Why 7/7 Has a Streaming Ban in Persona 5

Recommended Videos

Persona 5 is out and fans are enjoying every little bit of it as they dive into the modern-day Japan full of mystery and intrigue. Being a member of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts is an exciting experience so it’s no wonder that players want to share it with the world, usually via streaming. Unfortunately, Persona 5 has received a streaming ban past a certain date in the game, 7/7. Doing so will put you at risk of a strike against your channel and even a temporary suspension. Many players are wondering why such a specific point, but it makes sense once you know what it is.

SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD! WE’LL AVOID GOING INTO TOO MANY DETAILS.

For those who are into the Persona series, you will already know that although the franchise provides expansive RPGs, they are still relatively linear and very narrative driven. You’ll decide what you do on the day-to-day, but in your quest to experience everything that the game has to offer you’ll hit all the same major story points as everyone else. 7/7 happens to be one of those major story points, but it’s also a huge turning point for the title.

As you saw in the very beginning, you’re being interrogated by Sae Niijima, a public prosecutor from a special branch of the government investigating the Phantom Thieves. As such, the beginning of the game is a series of flashbacks that is bringing her up to speed on what’s going on, yet things start happening on 7/7 that really get the ball rolling and start to reveal major happenings behind the scenes, as well as introducing major characters. It kicks off right at the end of the third Palace so you don’t need to wait too long before being engulfed in everything.
