Legendary Difficulty – Overwatch Uprising

There are a lot of different events in the hit multiplayer shooter Overwatch, but the latest activity will push you and your team of four to the absolute limit. Dubbed Uprising, this Overwatch event tasks players with hacking three checkpoints, defending a payload, and then eliminating four key targets that are just reskinned Orisas. While there are clearly a lot of objectives to finish, this only becomes more challenging when Uprising is bumped up to the Legendary Difficulty. Enemies will have more health and hit harder, meaning you can easily be killed along with the payload, which also has a health bar. There are two variants to this events, with one having a set team to choose from and the other offering allowing all four players to pick any hero from the Overwatch roster.

For this guide, we will focus on the set four characters which are Torbjorn, Mercy, Reinhardt, and Tracer, as many of the same principles will translate to when you select your own team. There are four stages to this event and we will break down each section individually, but let’s take a look at each of the four characters and what their roles should be.

Tracer: Perhaps the most difficult role of the four, as Tracer’s base 150 health pool makes her laughably easy to kill if she’s caught out in the open. Given there are so many enemies on the screen at one time, you will always want to know where you’re going when you Blink into combat. While she can easily take out most of the base Omnics, what you want to see her as is a specialist killer who can easily manhandle the shielded Omnics and the enemy Bastions. Her speed can make Tracer very tough for them to follow, so use your pulse bomb and focus on these key targets in a battle. Remember, it’s okay to sometimes just sit behind Reinhardt’s shield and fire as you don’t always need to be moving.

Torbjorn: This defense hero is going to be your primary source of DPS in Legendary Difficulty as his Rivet Gun can tear through most enemies. Your turret placement will, of course, be key but do not neglect throwing armor out even when your team is fully equipped. Armor is what’s helping keep your team alive so never having it available will be a big detriment to your squad. Try to use Molten Core either after an Earthshatter or when the Omnics have grouped up/surrounded your team as it will quickly shred the base enemies, allowing you to focus on the Elite variants. Finally, turret placement is key as enemies will attack it if given the chance, but don’t babysit it while in combat because the turret will be doing minimal DPS compared to your Rivet Gun.

Reinhardt: The shield of the group, Reinhardt has three primary goals and will play roughly the same in almost every competitive match. Keep the shield up, protect your Mercy, and charge prime targets like the giant floating Omnics that look like balloons. Do not just charge into combat, as you’ll have no escape and it will be super easy for enemies to just kill you even with all of your health. Keep Reinhardt in the back and make sure your back is against a solid wall if possible as the Omnics typically come from all sides in almost any engagements. Mercy is the priority to keep alive as her Resurrect ability can literally save the match if everyone starts dying.

Mercy: Speaking of, Mercy is perhaps the most important character of all so make sure whoever takes this role is incredibly comfortable in with the hero. Mercy’s job is literally the same, as she will be your only real source of healing and should Resurrect teammates when more than one is actually down to ensure you maximize the most from your ultimate. However, a good Mercy shouldn’t ignore the damage boost or even pulling her pistol out as it can do a surprising amount of damage if you aim for the head of the Omnics. Always be on the move and make sure to fly between heroes as much as possible when in a chaotic battle as this will help keep you alive. When you’re not moving, just hide behind the payload, a wall, or Reinhardt’s shield.

Hack the Capture Points

Legendary Difficulty – Overwatch Uprising

The first section will require your team to hack and hold three separate capture points until they hit 100%. In order to progress the percentage (regardless if you’re on legendary difficulty or not), players will need to have at least one person standing in the marked area for it to progress (this should usually be Reinhardt and Mercy). When you make it to the first checkpoint, have Torbjorn set up his turret in the back left corner so it can cover both doors of the room and move behind the cover on the right. Reinhardt should shield the left door and have Mercy sit behind him damage boosting either Torb or Tracer. You will want to mainly have all four stay on the objective as Tracer won’t have a lot of space to maneuver and the small hallways make it easy to get ganged up on. Hold this objective until you are prompted to go into the courtyard.

This second Uprising objective will leave you more exposed, but the open space allows for your team to be far more mobile. Shield enemies will now begin to spawn, so have Torb set his turret up on the hotel balcony, facing the Mundatta statue and then hop down to help join the fray, if it’s destroyed just set the turret up in the little store on the right. Reinhardt will need to try and cover an 180 degree arc with his back to the statue. Just like before, make sure to have Mercy damage boost Torb or Rein depending on who is attacking at the moment to ensure you can kill the Omnic hordes quickly. Tracer should jump between staying around the statue and covering the team’s back and sprinting out to Pulse Bomb/distract the larger Omnics with shields.

Once you get to the third section, have Torbjorn quickly set up a turret in the back in between the two barricades and move to the staircase on the right. This is going to be the trickiest as the robots will pour in from all sides so one important thing to remember is to not go outside as the Omnics spawn at a fast rate and you will be quickly cut down. The team should stick together here and rotate to one of the three entrances as a team to ensure maximum impact of each group of enemies pushing onto the objective. Don’t panic if they manage to reach the capture zone, just calmly shift back to this area and wipe them out. Have Mercy stand on the point for the majority of this encounter as her player should be the one calling out which doors the foes are coming through.

The Payload

Legendary Difficulty – Overwatch Uprising

This is going to be perhaps the most difficult section of the event as it’s very easy to get overwhelmed, so start by having Torbjorn set his turret up on the hotel’s balcony. You can set it up on the payload. However, if it gets destroyed during combat, don’t fret too much. The trickiest part of this engagement will be keeping the payload from exploding, so make the little animal-like Omnics your priority every time they pop up. Their beams shred through the health bar of the payload and will send you back to the Overwatch main menu if you aren’t careful. Reinhardt should once again try to cover a 180 degree arc in front of the payload, only lowering his guard when he needs to hit nearby Omnics or charge into the giant balloon-shaped ones. Tracer and Torb should focus fire sections. However, once the Bastions roll out, all four members need to shift their focus.

These guys will absolutely massacre your team’s health on legendary difficulty, so prioritize them and if you can, either use a Pulse Bomb or Earthshatter to ensure their demise. Molten Core should be used frequently, so don’t feel like you need to hold onto it for that key moment as it can be great for making space and clearing out enemies on a side your team can’t focus on right now.  Mercy just needs to stay alive and will pretty much have to always be healing as everyone will take a lot of damage in this section. If Reinhardt goes down, don’t try to walk over and resurrect him manually, just use your ultimate as his shield will be key to your survival.

After the payload actually begins its Uprising journey, you will need to escort it so build the turret on the payload, have Reinhardt walk in the front with Mercy by the turret providing support. Torb will help cover the front with Tracer mopping up anyone attacking from behind. When you hear a Bastion call out, use one of your three damaging ultimates and have Mercy hide off in a corner. This Bastion will be in tank form and he will do an insane amount of damage so focus fire on this Overwatch Omnic until he’s nothing but bolts. When you reach the main door, clean up whoever is left and then prepare for the final phase.

Kill the Omnics

Legendary Difficulty – Overwatch Uprising

Uprising’s final section is perhaps the easiest part of the entire fight as you are not on a time limit and the game will automatically end once all four of the purple colored Orisas have been killed. When going into this section, move slowly, letting Reinhardt absorb most of the damage so the rest of your team can focus fire the Orisa. Try not to round the corner until the first one is finished as there is a Bastion waiting on the upper right side in turret form. Dispose of both the Bastion and Orisa before rounding the corner and dealing with the Omnics waiting for you. Have Torbjorn set his turret up where the Bastion was and then use Tracer to lure an Orisa into the line of fire.

Do not use your ultimates here as you’ll need them for the final fight, so just take your time here using the corner as cover if needed. There’s no rush so take as much time as you need, making sure to prioritize any turret or tank configuration Bastions first. After the second Orisa is dead, two will come out and wait down the small hill, so have Torbjorn quickly set up right before the decline, using Reinhardt’s shield as a damage absorber until the turret is done.

Pop Molten Core and then use Earthshatter to trap the two Orisas in a hail of bullets. Forget all other Omnics and just focus on killing these two robots by any means necessary. Hit them hard and fast so the other Omnics won’t have a chance to react and you can finally finish this Overwatch event on the legendary difficulty. This will be a challenge and may take a few tries but it’s certainly doable if you are simply patient and use smart positioning. Best of luck soldiers, we are counting on you!
