How to Level Up – Nioh
Unlike most traditional RPGs, you won’t gain experience and level up in Nioh simply by defeating enemies over and over again. Instead, you’ll have to amass a certain amount of Amrita and head to a save point, known as a shrine in this case, to level up. For each enemy that you defeat, William will gain Amrita, and the total amount of Amrita you have is shown by the number in the bottom right corner of your screen. Once you feel that you have enough Amrita, head back to the nearest shrine, interact with it, and choose the ‘Level Up’ option.
Here, you’ll get to spend your earned Amrita on skill points that you can dump into different character stats. These stats will increase your HP, Ki, equip load, and amount of damage dealt with specific weapons. There are also stats that determine how proficient you are with Ninjutsu and using your Guardian Spirit. The amount of Amrita to gain one level will increase rather significantly the more you level up, so make sure you’re spending your points in the right places, or you might end up with a character build that doesn’t really suit your play style.
You can also sell your unwanted gear for extra Amrita, or use consumable items to gain a set amount of Amrita before the leveling process. Be warned that if William dies, you’ll have one chance to go back to your site of death to pick up your Amrita. If you die again before picking them up, the Amrita will be gone forever.
That’s all you need to know to level up and gain experience in Nioh. Be sure to check out our Nioh wiki guide for more tips, tricks, and information on the game.
