Where to Find Mew in New Pokemon Snap

Because it is a legendary and mythical Pokemon, you will definitely want a picture of Mew in your Photodex. Unfortunately, if you’re hoping to encounter it early in the game, you’re out of luck. Mew only appears after you beat the main story of New Pokemon Snap. The good news is that once you know how to encounter it, it’s not too difficult to find.

After you photograph the final Pokemon and roll credits, more Pokemon will begin to appear in the courses, including Mew. You’ll want to head back to Founja Jungle at night for Mew.

At the very beginning of Jounja Jungle course at night, turn around behind you immediately and play a melody. At first, you’ll only see a group of Morelull walking around. But once the melody starts to play, you’ll see a pink orb appear through the bushes headed towards you.

This is a direct reference to how you would photograph Mew on Rainbow Cloud in the original game. The method to getting Mew to appear out of the orb is very similar as well.

The orb moves very quickly, but you’ll need to throw several Fluffruit at it. Once you’ve hit it two or three times, Mew will show itself briefly. It’s extremely quick, so you need to be fast with your picture. We recommend turning on burst mode for the best chance at a great shot.

Here’s what Mew looks like in the pink orb and what a photo looks like after you make the Pokemon appear:

You can repeat this process a few times on the course. Mew will also show itself later in the course if you manage to make it appear from the orb. If you are successful in photographing it, Mew will then start appearing on the Founja Jungle course during the day.
