How to Ride Caragors in Shadow of War

Once you’ve reached a certain part in Middle-earth: Shadow of War, you’re probably wondering how you can ride those four-legged beasts known as Caragors. Not only would you move faster, but you could do some great damage (and even more so if the captain is allergic to them). So how do you get your hands on a little Caragor buddy for yourself?

Well, once you have a skill point available from a level up, head over to the Character part of the main menu of Shadow of War. When you’re at Talion’s abilities’ tree window, head down to the Mounted section, and select the first option, Caragor Rider. Use up your skill on this and you’ll have the ability to ride Caragors! There are also two upgrades you can do later down the line if you find them useful to purchase with skill points.

Whenever you face a Caragor in Shadow of War, hurt it enough until you see the “Broken” message above its head. Once you have them like this, hold the dominate button (Circle on PS4 or B on Xbox One), until the bar is filled and they will be all yours. Talion will automatically start riding a Caragor under your control, but if you somehow find yourself off of one that is already a part of your army, you can hit R1 or RB while close to it and get back on. A later ability you can purchase in the Mounted part of the tree would allow you to Shadow Mount (holding L2 or LT and hitting Circle or B), which makes it far easier to mount and ride Caragors (as well as Graugs and Drakes) that are broken or under your command.

That’s all you need to know to ride Caragors in Shadow of War. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
