How to Unlock More Weapons in Mass Effect Andromeda

Weapons. You can never really have enough of these tools of destruction, especially when you find yourself in an unknown universe surrounded by unknown species, which is exactly the situation of Mass Effect Andromeda. You’ll start out with a few, and can even purchase a few more, but the good stuff you’re going to have to unlock. But don’t worry, it isn’t super difficult to do so, though it does require a bit of leg work.

First you’ll need to collect some Research Data (RD) which we’ve guided for you here. Once you have enough, check out your R&D terminal back on the Tempest, aboard the Hyperion, or in any other hub you can find one. Here you can spend your RD to unlock blueprints for more weapons of various types. You can unlock melee, pistols, sniper rifles, assault rifles, and shotguns of three different types – Heleus, Remnant, and Milky Way. The technology type determines the type of ammunition used. With Milkay way giving physical ammunition (think bullets), Remnant having all the beams (unlimited ammo on a cool-down), and Heleus (new from the Andromeda galaxy) being Plasma based and offering heat-seeking technology.

You can also get weapons as rewards, but R&D is the surefire way to up your arsenal with exactly what you want and need.

Now that you know how to get weapons you’ll be prepared for whatever the Andromeda galaxy throws at you. For more on Mass Effect Andromeda, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide.
