Method 1: Wheel and Deal in the Auction House

Madden 17 MUT

The best combination of speed and reliability for getting good Madden 17 Ultimate Team (MUT) players is to work the mode’s auction house. Follow our guide for how to get coins fast and easy, and then begin studying the market. Be incredibly patient when you see a player that you want. Don’t just jump for the first Buy it Now that you see, unless you know it’s really low or you just got coins like that.

Once you have a decently sized bank account, getting good players off the auction house really isn’t that hard. Eventually someone will want to unload a player for a quick buck, and you can be there to take advantage of it. You can flip players you don’t want for a higher price to help you work towards the player you really want to get that fits your team’s Chemistry scheme. Yes, some players might take you a while to save up for, but as long as you are constantly wheeling, dealing, and flipping players on the market, there is a path for you to eventually get your dream player.

Method 2: Earn Badges, Complete Sets, and Complete Solo Challenges

Madden 17 MUT

The most time consuming, but perhaps most reliable, way of getting good players in Madden 17’s Ultimate Team (MUT) mode is completing the game’s solo challenges and item sets. Primarily, you’ll get a lot of what you need by completing the solo challenges which begin with the Opening Games. Eventually, you’ll unlock a ton of other challenges, all of which offer useful items such as coins, packs (which could contain good players), and badges.

Badges are used to complete sets, which in turn usually reward you with good players. There are A LOT of sets to complete, and it can seem a bit overwhelming at first. Just pick one with a reward that you’re interested in, and see what the requirements are for each badge/item for that set. It is possible that you’ll need to unlock certain challenges through pre-requisite solo challenges first. Put very simply, if earning badges/set items is your goal, then play through the solo challenges and turn in any eligible set players you don’t want in, instead of selling them. There are a ton of sets you can complete by just trading in cards you don’t need, such as sets that require you to burn players of a certain quality for a specific team to earn one of that team’s best players.

Finally, if you’ve followed our advice and effectively learned how to work the auction house, you could deal in badges, and try to earn enough badges to trade for a pack. Elite Badges are the ultimate goal, as they are used for a lot of premium packs guaranteed to have someone good in them.

Like we said, there are ton of badges and sets to earn and complete. If you’re looking for help for a specific one, leave us a note in the comments and we can try and help or maybe even create a guide just for it.

Method 3: Open Packs

Madden 17 MUT

Opening packs is perhaps the most unreliable, but potentially the quickest way to get good players in Madden 17’s MUT mode. Of course the packs that you get from completing solo challenges and the like are freebies in a sense. So open them without fear and hopefully you get something good. The ones you buy in the marketplace are a little more dangerous though.

You can buy most packs with both real-life currency and coins. We actually don’t recommend that you buy packs with your coins in MUT because of how random it is. Yes, it could save you time, but more often than not you’re going to be disappointed that you wasted coins that you could have used on the auction house. Why gamble and MAYBE get a player you want that also fits your chemistry, when you can save, and pick out the perfect player for your team?

Aside from coins, you could obviously purchase points with real-life currency and just buy packs that way. It’s not something we encourage, but hey, if that’s an option for you, go right ahead. If you’re going to to defy our advice to not purchase packs, at least don’t buy the Pro Packs though. Wait and spend your hard earned coins/cash on the premier packs that guarantee a good player.

Finally, you can also earn packs (and badges for sets) by playing through Ultimate Team and Draft Champion’s ranked modes. It’s tough, and you’ll have to win many games in a row without losing many (if at all) however, if you pull it off, this is probably the quickest and way to good players in Ultimate Team. You just have to, you know, be really good at the game to get it done that way.

***

That does it for the basics on how to get good players in Madden 17 Ultimate Team (MUT). Unless you’re going to just buy packs until you get what you want, there’s no “fast” or easy way to get the good players. It requires a lot of time and effort, but if you follow our advice, you’ll be on the right path towards improving your team.
