How to Get the Master Sword in Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch

Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition brings worlds and characters from across the Zelda series together. There’s plenty of different playable characters to give you variation, but beyond that there are also wildly different weapons for characters to use as well. Of course, there’s no weapon more iconic to the Zelda series than the Master Sword, and yes you can get it in Hyrule Warriors. The weapon is only for Link, and after some work you can make it the strongest weapon in the game.

Luckily, it’s pretty easy to get the Master Sword in Hyrule Warriors, as all you really need to do is play through Legend Mode until you beat “The Sacred Sword,” which is at the end of the hero’s story. It’s pretty similar to Link’s standard sword and shield, but does come with an attack of 300 which means it’s a bit more powerful than most other swords you can get. Now, if you really want to power up the Master Sword, that’s where things get tricky.

The Master Sword’s one skill slot is sealed when you get it, and to unlock it you’ll need to obtain every weapon for every character in Adventure Mode. This means you need to get all Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 weapons for each character. All Level 1 weapons can be found on the Adventure Map, Level 2 weapons on the Great Sea map with a few in Legend Mode, and Level 3 weapons on the Master Quest map. Then the first skill will unlock, and you’ll need to get 10,000 KOs to unlock the skill, boosting the sword’s power. To unlock the second skill you’ll need all characters plus-grade weapons, which can be found on Twilight and Termina maps. Finally, after you’ve done that the second skill will unlock, and you’ll need to get 25,000 kills to activate it, boosting the Master Sword’s attack to 500, the strongest in the game.
