Minecraft gives you quite an array of weapons and tools to use in just about any combat situation. Even a shovel can be a decent weapon in a pinch, then doubles as a tool for digging your enemy’s grave. While swords and axes are great for close range combat, what about ranged weapons? Well, then you want a bow! Here we’ll teach you how to craft a bow in Minecraft, as well as arrows.
How to Craft a Bow and Arrows in Minecraft
Now, in order to craft a bow, you’re going to need to get into a fight. So, I suggest crafting a sword because you’re hunting spiders today.
- Hunt and kill a spider.
Spiders drop string, one of the two ingredients you need to craft a bow. Killing one can drop up to two Strings, sometimes none, but you need three. Spiders can usually be found in caves. Consider keeping some extra string for a Fishing Rod!
- Gather wood.
Next, you need to gather some wood to craft Sticks. You need three Sticks to make a bow in Minecraft. I also recommend crafting a stack of Sticks for making arrows later.
- Craft a bow.
Using a Crafting Table, place a column of String on the right, then the Sticks in a crescent shape. It looks like a crude bow, right? Now you’ve got your bow!
- Make some arrows.
To craft arrows in Minecraft, you need: x1 Feather, x1 Flint, and x1 Stick. Feathers drop from chicken and Flint from shoveling gravel. Here’s a handy trick: if you shovel gravel and it doesn’t turn into flint, place the gravel down and shovel again until it does. Place the materials in a column in this order: Flint, Stick, then Feather.
Well, that’s all there is to know about how to craft a bow in Minecraft. It’s pretty easy, to be honest, and yet it’s one of the most important weapons in your arsenal. To be able to whittle down an enemy’s health from a distance is invaluable. You can even use an Enchanting Table to enchant it with really powerful effects, like Infinity, which ensures you never run out of arrows!
