Whether you love them or hate them, the machines in Horizon Zero Dawn need to be taken care of. Aloy will go through more than her fair share of arrows, tripwires, and traps on her adventure, but in order to do all of this, you’ll need to know how to aim attacks.

Luckily for us, aiming in Horizon Zero Dawn is incredibly easy. All you need to do is press down on the L2 button and Aloy will ready the weapon. Then, use the right stick to line up your shot with the enemy and press R2 to fire. While this may seem straightforward, it’s worth noting that you won’t just want to aim attacks at anywhere on a machine. Each type has its own unique weak points, and you’ll want to focus your fire on these to take them down quickly.

When using the Sling weapon, aiming changes slightly. This is essentially your way of throwing projectiles or grenades at an enemy. They don’t do a ton of damage, but they are helpful for hindering your opponent. Press L2 again and then hold down the R2 button. This will cause the white line protruding from the weapon to start raising and arcing more and more. Wait until this arc lines up with your enemy and let go of R2. With a good aim, you should be able to exploit machine weak spots easily in Horizon Zero Dawn.
