How to Get New Skills in God of War

As you make your way through God of War, the widely praised reboot of the PlayStation exclusive series, you’re going to want to upgrade your abilities so that you can take on the tougher enemies that are thrown at you. You can do so by unlocking new skills that are tied to your weapons, and here’s everything you need to know about getting them.

For Kratos, most melee skills in God of War’s skill tree are unlocked as you level up his axe with a Frozen Flame, which are items that are obtained by simply playing through the story. It works in a similar way for Atreus, Kratos’ son, with you being able to unlock advanced bow skills each time you upgrade his Talon Bow. For both characters, you unlock those new skills by pressing the options button and going over to the Skills tab. You will then be able to spend your XP on a new skill that one of the characters will then learn.

That’s all you need to know about getting new skills in God of War. For more on the game, be sure to check out our extensive wiki guide.
