While Gears Tactics is likely to sink its Locust-like claws deep into you from an early stage, you’re not going to be able to live in front of your PC forever. At some point, you’ll need to save your game to go off and do something else, or even just to ensure you’ve got a checkpoint. Here’s how to save in Gears Tactics.
Saving Your Game in Gears Tactics
Gears Tactics uses an auto-save feature, and doesn’t have any way of simply manually saving your progress.
At the end of every main mission or side mission that you embark on, Gears Tactics will save your progress, ensuring you won’t have to do it all over again.
If things go a bit pear-shaped during a mission, Gears Tactics isn’t quite so forgiving. There are one or two checkpoints per mission. If you don’t reach one of these, you’ll have to start the mission over entirely.
Upon reaching a checkpoint, you’ll then be able to press Esc at any time and select the ‘Restart from Checkpoint’ option. At least this way you won’t have to restart the entire mission. You’ll know when you’ve reached a checkpoint, as you’ll get a notification to appear on the right-hand side of the screen.
After reaching a checkpoint during a mission, you’ll also be free to then back out of the mission completely and quit the game. When you load it back up, you’ll be thrown back in at the checkpoint.
Unfortunately, there is no option to ‘Undo’ a single move or anything of that manner in Gears Tactics. Once you’ve made a move and/ or ended your turn, you’ll have to deal with the consequences.
