Turning On the Generator in Frostpunk

Recommended Videos

As soon as you begin building your new home in Frostpunk, your very first objective in the game will be to turn on the generator so your people won’t freeze to death. In order to that, first you’ll need some coal. Thankfully, Frostpunk starts you off with a few coal deposits around the area so you won’t have to look far.

Before doing anything else, click around the debris around the area to look for coal piles. They should look like a pile of rocks. Click on it, and an information screen will pop up. Near the bottom of the screen, you’ll be able to start assigning workers and engineers to work on the coal pile to dig it up. You can assign up to 15 workers for maximum efficiency, and we definitely recommend doing so, as you’ll need a good stockpile of coal to keep the generator running.

At the top of your screen, you’ll see a few icons indicating your key resources. The leftmost icon represents your coal. Once you have enough, click on the generator right in the middle of your home base, then click on the level 1 button to turn it on. Finally, you’ll have some heating for your new city in Frostpunk. Though, keep in mind that the generator will power down automatically if you run out of coal.
