Far Cry 5 brings the series to rural North America, tossing players into the cult-occupied region of Hope County, Montana. The whole area is ruled by a mysterious leader named Joseph Seed who, after resisting arrest, launches a mission to take down the player. Much like previous games in the series, Far Cry 5 features multiple endings. Each one requires certain conditions to trigger, and have very different outcomes.

We’re going to walk you through how to get all endings in Far Cry 5, but it’s worth noting here that you’re obviously going to come across some spoilers for the game below. If you want to enjoy Far Cry 5 spoiler-free, we suggest turning back now. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Walk Away Ending

‘Where it All Began’ is the final mission in Far Cry 5 and sees you confronting Joseph Seed at his church. After arriving, you find that he has taken a bunch of your friends hostage, with blissed out cultists pointing rifles at their heads. You may remember that when you met Joseph Seed the first time he gave you the chance to walk away. Well, he offers you this choice once again. A prompt will pop up on screen asking you to either walk away or resist. Choose walk away. Selecting this option will mean that you and your Sheriff pals will get into their car and drive out of the compound. It is explained that you are on your way to fetch the national guard and return. ‘Only you’ is out on the radio, prompting the screen to fade out. The end mission will still be available on your map to replay.

Resist Ending

As above, follow the steps to get you to confront Seed at his church. He will once again give you the choice to either resist or walk away. This time choose resist. Joseph will kick over two drums of bliss, causing the area to erupt into gunfire. You must eliminate all cult members, saving your friends in the process. Joseph will be teleporting around the area trying to kill you, so take care.

After neutralizing him, a short cutscene will play in which a nuclear bomb is triggered on the horizon. The player must then drive to Dutch’s bunker within a set time limit, avoiding obstacles on the road. Eventually the car crashes and the player is pulled out of the wreckage and carried to the bunker. Turns out it is Joseph Seed who has brought you here, tying you to a pipe in the process. After a brief conversation, Far Cry 5 lingers on a menacing shot of Seed before rolling credits.

Secret Ending

Far Cry 5 continues the series’ tradition of secret endings. This one happens to be available right at the very start of the game, during your very first encounter with Joseph Seed. When asked to put the handcuffs on him, simply wait. After a few lines of dialogue, you and your colleagues will decide that it is too dangerous to arrest Seed and will leave Hope County for good.
