HOW TO LOCKPICK IN ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE

Recommended Videos

Much like any Elder Scrolls game, you will come across locked doors and chests hiding loot as you explore the world in Elder Scrolls Online.

If you have played The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, then you are likely to already understand the lockpicking mechanic in Elder Scrolls Online. If you haven’t, to unlock chests you’ll need lock picks that you can find littered throughout the world, or you can buy them from vendors. While unlocking chests and doors can be tough, the more you manage to lockpick, the higher your skill gets and the easier future lockpicking gets.

Once the interactive lock appears on screen, you will see five pins and your lockpick and will be able to press down on each pin to unlock it by left clicking if you’re on PC, or by holding the right trigger if you’re on console. You also only have a set amount of time to pick each lock in Elder Scrolls Online, with the time getting shorter the higher the difficulty level of the lock is. The trick to lockpicking successfully is to release each pin just as it begins to wiggle and vibrate because that’s the sweet spot. Once you let go, you should hear the click that signifies that it has been unlocked. Then, quickly move onto the other pins before the time runs out. Don’t be afraid to fail, however, because all you lose is lockpicks and your lockpicking skill increases with every attempt.

That is how you lockpick in Elder Scrolls Online. For more on the game, be sure to stick with us at Twinfinite.
