Eastward is a new 2D pixel RPG from Pixpil and Chucklefish, and it follows the story of John and Sam, two underground dwellers who one day find themselves on a journey to the surface world. The game makes use of a real time action combat system where you have to react to your enemies quickly as they show up. Here’s how to heal and restore your health in Eastward.
Healing in Eastward
Your health is indicated in the bottom left corner of the screen, and each hit you take will knock off part of a heart. You’ll start the game with three hearts, which isn’t a lot at all, which means that you need to be careful in those early encounters.
However, it’s actually pretty easy to restore your health in Eastward. Whenever you’re exploring a dungeon, make sure to hit all breakable items such as bottles and crates, as there might be extra hearts to pick up in there. Similarly, if you find any chests or cupboards, open those and you might find heart orbs, which will increase your maximum health once you’ve picked up enough of them, and will also bring you back to full health.
Finally, it’s also possible to purchase or cook food to carry around in your backpack.
Bring up the menu with the Options or Menu button, go to your backpack tab, then select the food item you want to use with the X or A button. Select the option to use it, and John or Sam will eat the food, allowing them to regain a bit of health.
While the game does have quite a few checkpoints, dying will cause you to lose progress, so you should definitely try to keep your health up as much as possible.
That’s all you need to know about how to heal and restore health in Eastward. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
