How to Sprint

Surprisingly, unlike most other games, there is no dedicated sprint button in Dying Light 2. Continuing to run in a direction by holding the left analog stick forward will cause you to slowly increase your movement speed into a sprint.

Increasing Sprint & Movement Speed in Dying Light 2

You can increase your general speed and movement by allocating upgrade points into the Parkour section of your ability tree.

There are a number of Parkour skills you can purchase to increase your sprint and movement speed in various ways. We’ve listed these below:

  • Dart: Temporarily increases your movement speed, which allows you to jump across wider gaps, reach higher ledges or run longer on walls. Press L3 while running to gain a brief burst of speed.
    • Requirements: 1 Parkour Point, Skill: High Jump, 140 Stamina
  • Dash: Dash for as long as your Stamina lasts. Hold L3 while running to move faster, as long as you have Stamina.
    • Requirements: 1 Parkour Point, Skill: Dart, 180 Stamina
  • Afterboost: Gain a brief burst of speed after performing specific parkour moves.
    • Requirements: 1 Parkour Point, Skill: Dash, 240 Stamina
  • Bash: Bash through obstacles and enemies without stopping. While in Dark/ Dash, press R2.
    • Requirements: 1 Parkour Point, Skill: Dart, 200 Stamina

While some of these don’t directly just increase sprint speed, they do allow you to sprint for longer, or be faster in your parkour traversal.
