Getting the Catalyst for your Hawkmoon Hand Cannon is perfect for any player that wants to make the gun more powerful. To be specific, this upgrade will increase the gun’s magazine size and improve hanlding, reload speed, and weapon rage, all based on the number of stacks you have.

Before starting the mission to get the catalyst, we do recommend that you have a Power level around at least 1270+ and preferably 1280+, as this mission is really difficult. Soloing it is possible if you’re 1280+, but we’d also recommend doing this one with friends, too.

How to Get the Hawkmoon Catalyst in Destiny 2

To get your hands on the Hawkmoon Catalyst, you’ll need to pick up the questline relevant to it first. This can be found in the Crow’s room, located just to the left of the Spider on the Tangled Shore. You’ll also need to have obtained the Hawkmoon as well. Click here for help on that if you haven’t gotten it yet.

As long as you already have the Hawkmoon unlocked, speak with the Crow and he’ll give you the Bird of Prey exotic quest. Head to the EDZ and fly to Trostland as indicated on the map.

Head inside the building, jump up to the first floor and turn left. Shoot open the fireplace blocked with rubble. Head straight ahead and you’ll see a panel that says Start Mission.

Follow the path till you reach a dead end, then head to the right. You’ll need to complete a jumping puzzle to progress.

Emissaries of Savathun

Once you finish the jumping puzzle, you’ll be thrust into combat with a lot of Taken, including the three Emissaries of Savathun – knight (solar), centurion (arc), and wizard (void).

Even after defeating these three, you’ll still need to survive. This section, in particular, is the reason we recommend going in with a fireteam, as the combination of Unstoppable champions and sheer volume of enemies can be overwhelming.

Once you manage to defeat these enemies, complete the next jumping puzzle and there is yet another difficult combat room ahead. In this area, you’ll face a lot of Taken and a fire-breathing knight boss.

After completing the three-phase fight, loot the chest that spawns. Your reward for surviving this chaos and completing the quest is 10 Feathers (Crow’s quest), two random roll Hawkmoons, and the Hawkmoon catalyst.
