How to Decrypt Engrams in Destiny 2
Engrams are sort of like blueprints that you can pick up and earn as rewards in Destiny 2 (just like in the first game). Depending on the type of engram you have, you can get a number of different items ranging from useful weapons to stylish ships. However, in order to get the awesome piece(s) of gear locked away in those odd engrams, you’ll need to decrypt them. Here’s everything you need to know to decrypt engrams in Destiny 2.
To decrypt engrams, you must head to a Cryptarch. They can be found in social spaces such as Tyra Karn on the farm.
Simply walk up to the Cryptarch and interact by pressing Square on PS4 or X on the Xbox One. If you have any engrams, you can select them one by one and instantly see what rewards you’ve unlocked.
There is a special type of Engram that you can pick up that isn’t handled by Cryptarchs though. They are called Bright Engrams and are instead handled by Tess Everis of Eververse.
Just go to her and she’ll gladly unlock the various aesthetic rewards held within at no charge. You can even purchase some more from her as long as you have some Silver, a premium, microtransaction currency available in Destiny 2.
That’s all there is to it. Now get back out there and earn some more rewards.
