There may come a time on your adventures through the zombie-infested open world of Days Gone where the whole challenge is a little too much for you. The Freakers are just too damn powerful I tells ya! If this sounds a little bit like you, you’re in the right place. Here’s everything you need to know on how to change difficulty settings in Days Gone.

How to Change Difficulty in Days Gone

Whenever you feel like you need to change the difficulty settings in Days Gone, you’ll be pleased to know you can do it from both the main menu, as well as the pause menu. To do this via the in-game pause menu, simply press Options on your DualShock 4 and select ‘Options’ from the menu that appears. From this, it’s then simply a case of using R1 to tab over to the Gameplay tab.

This tab then has a number of settings which can be changed in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. The top of these is Difficulty. Simply use left or right on the d-pad and you’ll toggle between the available settings.

On your first playthrough, you’ll only have access to Easy and Normal. We’re currently unsure whether or not there’s an additional difficulty level that’s unlocked upon completing the game once. We’ll update this post as and when we know for sure.

What Does Difficulty Affect in Days Gone?

From what we can gather, changing difficulty in Days Gone affects the usual things, such as how much damage enemies will deal to you, as well as how much damage they’ll take before going down for good. However, what’s also worth noting is when you’re on the ‘Gameplay’ tab, you’ll notice that the ‘Aim Snap’ option just below ‘Difficulty’ is enabled when you switch to the ‘Easy’ difficulty.

None of the other settings do, but this will essentially make aiming far easier for those less-skilled at third-person combat in video games. Not to mention that enemies should generally be easier to overcome, too.

Are There Any Difficulty Trophies in Days Gone?

We’ve had a complete check through the entire trophy list for the game and can confirm there are no difficulty trophies in the game. That means you can play through Days Gone on ‘Easy’ difficulty, clear the game and its enemies fairly easily, and not be prevented from getting that sweet, sweet platinum trophy at the end.
