Upgrading iconic weapons is done from the “Upgrades” section of the “Crafting” menu tab in the same way you would any other weapon in the game. Simply select the weapon you’re wanting to upgrade from the left-hand side and then click the upgrade button on the bottom right.

Of course, you’ll need to have the necessary parts to do so, which often requires “epic crafting components” or just a lot of more common resources.

The more you upgrade, the more you’re going to need, so if you’re set on upgrading your iconic weapons then always make sure you’re looting as much as possible when you’re out on missions and/or grinding other activities in the game.

Weapons, gear, and junk can all be disassembled for parts, and you should make a habit of doing so regularly to keep stocking up.

Recrafting Iconic Weapons

But upgrading iconic weapons doesn’t quite end there because you can actually recraft them to a higher level once you’ve unlocked the corresponding perk. As you can see in the above image, once we have the right parts and the “Grease Monkey” perk, we’ll be able to craft an Epic version of the Overwatch sniper rifle.

If you simply try to keep upgrading standard iconic weapons then you’ll hit a ceiling pretty quickly. So, this is one good reason to invest in the Technical Ability section of the character menu and pour perk points into Crafting.

Most iconic weapons seem to add crafting blueprints automatically, but otherwise you’ll need to purchase them from vendors around Night City.

Above we’ve highlighted the Grease Monkey perk, but there’s also the option to take things a step further and craft Legendary weapons.
