How to Holster Your Weapon in Cyberpunk 2077

Holstering your weapon in Cyberpunk 2077 is easy to do, and even easier to remember once you’ve done it a few times.

While you have a gun or melee weapon equipped and unholstered, double-tap the Triangle Button on PlayStation consoles or the Y Button on Xbox consoles. On PC, double tap Alt. This will make your character holster their gear and will prevent them from attacking until you take them back out.

Speaking of which: All you need to do to un-holster your weapons is press Triangle or Y again, or press R2 or RT. This will re-equip your weapon and leave you armed for combat.

A cool addition that we instantly fell in love with in update 2.0 is the ability to manually trigger the unique “first equip” weapon animation. To do so, double-tap the Triangle Button on PlayStation consoles or the Y Button on Xbox consoles while the weapon is drawn. On PC, double tap Alt or hold B with the weapon drawn.

When You Should Holster Your Weapon

As for when you should holster your weapon in Cyberpunk 2077, it’s fairly straightforward.

Approaching certain NPCs with your armaments drawn, or entering certain areas while actively armed, will lead to you being seen as a threat. This can lead to combat situations you otherwise could have avoided and can lock you out of certain events and scenarios in missions that required a more peaceful approach.

Think about how you want certain NPCs to view you, and how they will react to you either having or not having your weapon equipped. Once you have a grasp on that, you can holster your weapon or keep it held out in front of you menacingly as you see fit.

The police AI is more advanced than ever thanks to update 2.0, so be careful when drawing weapons out in front of them.

Triggering the awesome weapon animation with the weapon drawn will not attract any additional attention from NPCs or police.
