HOW TO GET CHARACTER TOKENS & WHAT THEY DO IN CRASH BANDICOOT N. SANE TRILOGY

Recommended Videos

The collection containing remakes of the first three Crash Bandicoot games is out now and there are collectibles to find littered throughout the trilogy. One you’ll come across regularly are Character Tokens, which are small objects that have the image of Coco or another character on them (just not Crash, these are extra lives).

There will be a certain number of them in a level, usually three of each, and they are used to unlock shorter bonus levels in each level. You’ll find these hidden away in crates in each level. They’re not necessarily difficult to find, but it’s worth smashing every crate you see if you want to access these bonus levels.

The bonus levels are usually only a few platforms long and take a matter of seconds to finish but they award you with more wumpa fruit and crates to destroy. They also help add to your item totals for that level, making them a necessity for completionists.

However, to access the bonus levels, you need to have collected all of the character tokens before you reach the portal to them. Without them, the option to play the bonus level will not be available. Therefore, it is best to keep your eye out for them and attempt to destroy all the crates in each level.

That is what Character Tokens do in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide.
