Bowser’s Fury Fur Step Island Shines: How to Get All Cat Shines

Fur Step Island serves as the game’s tutorial area as it immediately throws you into it upon starting a fresh save. However, you are only able to get one of the island’s five cat shines at the beginning of the game. The other four will only be obtainable after you collect 50 cat shines and defeat bowser. In this guide, we’ll show you how to get all of the Cat Shines in Fur Step Island in Bowser’s Fury.

How to Get All Fur Step Island Shines in Bowser’s Fury

Make the Lighthouse Shine

When you first load the game you’ll find yourself in an field filled with trees and Bowser’s rather large footprints.

Move forward through the field until you find a wrecked ship connecting the platform you are on with the one above.

Continue through the ship and onto the top platform where you will see a stack of Fury Blocks.

Lead Bowser into shooting his fire breath toward the blocks to destroy them and to clear your path to the shine.

This is the only shine you can get until you can beat Bowser with 50 cat shines.

Junior’s Graffiti Gratitude

Make your way back to the wrecked ship after beating Bowser. In the middle of the ship, you’ll see a giant question mark on the deck’s floor.

Using either the touchscreen in handheld mode, or the R button and Gyro controls while docked, you can direct Bowser Jr. to paint over the mark, spawning the cat shine.

Fury Shadow on Deck

After getting the shine from the ship’s graffiti, leave Fur Step Island. Return and you’ll find another Shadow Luigi to chase after. Chase him down, and either hit him with projectiles or jump on him enough times and he’ll die and drop the cat shine.

Five Cat Shine Shards

  1. You can find the first shard toward the beginning of the island on the top of the large cat shaped rock structure.

2. The second shard can be found on the stern (back) of the ship, on to of one of the large wooden poles ascending from the deck.

3. The third shard is a bit harder to find. The shard is located underneath the ship in a small alcove on the right side of the island.

4. The fourth shard can be found on the bow (front) of the ship underneath the large protruding wooden pillar.

5. The final shard can be found by the lighthouse at the end of the island on a stack of cat Goombas. Kill them and grab the shard!

Blast the Fury Blocks

You’ll find a stack of Fury Blocks on the hill by the wrecked ship. Wait for Bowser to go into Fury mode and lead him toward the blocks, when he shoots his fire breath at the blocks, he’ll destroy them and spawn the island’s final cat shine.
