Diamond City Expansion
Best Fallout 4 Mods of January 2018
Diamond City is already a large settlement that’s pretty fun to explore. The nooks and crannies of this post-war Fenway Park all tell a story and have meaningful pockets of lore for you to take all in. If you have already seen all Diamond City has to offer, however, Statsmakten’s Diamond City Expansion mod will provide even more for you to love about this fortified settlement. This mod adds several new areas to Diamond City including the Red Seat District and the Chem Lab. The Red Seat District is described as “the unpolished jewel of the Commonwealth” and contains “prostitution, strip clubs, drugs, and freakshows.” As for the Chem Lab, it’s a fairly new and shady business in Diamond City “meant to meet the increased demand of cheap chems after the Mayor imposed taxes on imported drugs.”
Snap N Build
Best Fallout 4 Mods of January 2018
If finding new ways to craft settlements and defensive bases is your favorite part of Fallout 4 then this mod will easily be a favorite for you. The Snap N Build mod will give you access to hundreds of new architecture items. This will help you create truly unique structures and make your settlements look like nothing you’ve ever had before in any of you’re previous playthroughs. Everything from new windows and stairs to customizable military bunkers are added to Fallout 4 thanks to this mod. You should also note that the variety of structures available will give you the ability craft post-war settlements or just create your own little section of a pristine neighborhood that looks like it could be fresh out of the Sims.
Companion Overhaul
There are plenty of Fallout 4 players who feel pretty underwhelmed by all the companion options in the game. If you’re just a bit harder to please than others when it comes to finding the right companion, this Companion Overhaul mod could be the final touch you needed to find the wasteland buddy of your dreams. This mod will add various tweaks to the available companions in the game. With this mod X6-88 will be able to call synths, Preston will get an additional Minuteman follower, and MacCready will become the best sniper assistant you could have asked for. Each companion has a different and unique tweak that will be added with this mod so feel free to try them all out and see if you might finally be interested in running through the Commonwealth with a partner again.
Sanctuary Estates Overhaul
You can call your original neighborhood in Fallout 4 whatever you want but Sanctuary Estates was an underwhelming suburban cul-de-sac. It serves its purpose in the beginning of the game for sure but it rarely urges you to return unless you spent hours personally redesigning the entire settlement. Fortunately, you can now enjoy Sanctuary Estates more without having to dedicate a ton of time to giving it a facelift. Madrox’s Sanctuary Estates Overhaul adds several multi-level structures to this settlement, making it a place you’d be far more excited about defending. It also makes it a lot easier to defend. Having the high ground works to your advantage here and this new version of Sanctuary Estates in Fallout 4 gives you plenty of elevated spaces so you can watch your bustling settlement like a hawk.
MoreXplore
The Fallout 4 community is filled with dedicated gamers who have played through the game on multiple occasions. While this open world adventure is certainly large enough and vast enough to provide a new experience for every run, it still doesn’t hurt to add some new content to the game even after you’d become accustomed to the DLCs. If you need something new to encourage you to actually take your time to explore the Commonwealth again, consider using the MoreXplore mod. This mod, created by Synpathy, adds a dozen new locations to the Commonwealth. This includes more simple new spots like a collapsed tunnel to more cheeky additions like an adult bookstore. This mod gives you more areas to explore and loot, which could also help you gain more XP in the long run.
.44 Magnum Redone
Sometimes there’s just  nothing better than having more realistic weapons in a game. For gun enthusiasts who played Fallout 4, the game’s .44 magnum just didn’t feel quite right. Fortunately, Col_Serra has come to the rescue with a mod that gives the current .44 magnum a much needed overhaul. Most .44s are actually double action weapons so they don’t need to be cocked every time you fire it. This mod changes the weapon in the game from a single action to a double action weapon and also delivers a nice boost to the damage it puts out. It’s a simple mod that helps make this weapon not only feel more realistic, but it also makes it a far more viable option to keep in your arsenal.
Kellogg CerealKiller
The Commonwealth can be a scary place but something about it seems far less intimidating when you have a ruthless mercenary cyborg at your side. Conrad Kellogg is a pretty popular companion in the game for anyone who just wants to be able to shoot first and ask questions later… or maybe not ask any questions at all and just keep shooting. Well SKK50 has a mod that will take Kellogg from skilled mercery to full-blown “CerealKiller.” Get it? Kellogg’s? Cereal? Anyway, this mod gives Kellogg a few tweaks so that he’s an even more deadly sidekick than he was before. You can check out all the changes on the mod page but the highlights include a modified .44 with unlimited ammo for Kellogg and a new perk called CerealKiller(TM), which will grand +20% pistol damage.
Better Dials for Power Armor on Console
If there was ever a moment in Fallout 4 that serves as living proof that details in a game really matters, it would be the moment you hop into your spiffy new power armor and immediately cringe at the dials and indicators at the bottom of your screen. The reality is that the dials on display when you’re inside your power armor aren’t that easy on the eyes and it’s not the easiest thing to read in the heat of battle. And let’s be honest… if you’re using the power armor for a battle it must be one heck of a showdown. PC players  had already received a mod that fixed the appearance of the power armor dials but console players were still stuck in the days of a crappy UI experience. KungFuMan, however, has saved the day by recreating the mod for Xbox and even adding a few tweaks to optimize the mod for console players.
