Battlefield 2042: How to Steady Scope (Breathe)

Battlefield 2042 is the latest entry in EA and DICE’s popular first-person shooter series, and it’s finally getting released for PC and consoles this month. While some might be disappointed that there’s no single-player campaign this year, there are quite a few multiplayer modes to keep you occupied, such as the popular Breakthrough and Conquest, as well as the survival-based Hazard Zone mode. Here’s how to steady scope and breathe in Battlefield 2042.

Steady Scope and Breathe in Battlefield 2042

Every so often, you might end up having to use a sniper rifle or a weapon with a precision scope. Hitting your target with a slow-firing precision weapon like that can be tricky, but you can make things much easier on yourself by breathing and using the steady scope feature.

To do this, aim down the sights with the left trigger (or right mouse button on PC), then hold the L3 button by pushing in the left stick. You can do this on PC by holding the L-Shift key. This will cause your character to stabilize their grip for a few seconds, reducing weapon sway and allowing you to line up a more precise shot.

Do note that you can only hold your breath for a few seconds, so try to line up your target in your sights as best as you can before breathing in. Use those precious few seconds to get a more precise aim on your target, then fire your shot. If all goes well, you should be able to hit them easily and even land a headshot if you’re accurate enough.

There’s also a cooldown of a few seconds between each steady scope attempt, so don’t waste it. But aside from that, this is technique that you should be using as often as possible if you plan on spending a lot of time with a precision weapon in the game.
