8 Best Witcher 3 Mods of July 2019

Netflix Witcher Viper Armor

Recommended Videos

If you’re stoked for Netflix’s upcoming Witcher adaptation then you might want to get in the mood by changing the Kaer Mohren Viper Armor to this new look inspired by Henry Cavill’s portrayal of the White Wolf.

Nexus Mod user Replicant Police has done a great job matching the armor design faithfully to teaser images, though the original median remains –not that we care because it looks better anyway, right?

The download link is here, but you’ll need to sign up to Nexus Mods (it’s free). Just be sure to follow the instructions carefully as the mod does require the HD Chainmail mod by CAPA to work properly.

Triss’ Black DLC Dress For Yennifer

Witcher

Oh yes! This darker version of the dress Triss was given as post-launch DLC is absolutely spot on for Yennifer, and this mod allows you to change her look. Here’s the link to the Nexus Mods page, which requires a (free) sign up.

Beauty of Toussaint Reshade

Toussaint is easily the best-looking region of The Witcher 3, and the game just seems to run better there, too. But one Nexus Mods user wasn’t content with the standard shading; Agamainen has modified it to appear more like the Mediterranean setting Toussaint is quite obviously based on.

The reshade aims to improve Toussaint’s aesthetic in a number of ways:

  • Colors fitting the beautiful nature, vibrant and sharp greens, and with clear blue skies
  • Sharper and clearer lighting, reducing the feeling of unending dusk
  • Changes NPC skin hue that looks more realistic (reducing the red blush)
  • An overall feeling of “Mediterranean warm summer”, combined with a touch of Witcher 2
  • Fuller shadows and darker nights

Random Encounters (Updated)

This random encounters mod is actually an update of one that has already been around for a while, but it’s been updated with some tweaks that make it much superior.

Random encounters does exactly what you’d expect: adds random monster encounters to the game of varying difficulty. This is a great one if you’re nearing the end of the game and find yourself wanting for more enemies.

The updated version fixes “encounters that were not spawning such as Arachas, Leshens, and Spiders,” as well as other minor modifications to monster encounters.

It’s well worth the install if you’re wanting to increase the difficulty without messing with the game’s stats and leveling system.

Triss (G)Lorified – Wardrobe

witcher 3 mods

Fans of The Witcher novels by Andrzej Sapkowski will know that CD Projekt Red’s depiction of Triss in the video games isn’t really in line with the lore. This mod aims to render Triss more faithfully according to descriptions from the source material.

As described by modder:

“Mod changes Triss’ clothes and body to look closer to her book description: loose auburn hair, tiny waist she was so proud of and no plunging necklines.”

So if that’s your jam then head on over to the mod page and check it out. As user bathsebar notes, it is still a work-in-progress, so be kind if you encounter any issues (we didn’t).

Travel to Pin

witcher 3 mods

The fast travel posts are pretty generously scattered across The Witcher 3’s various regions, but there are occasions that you’ll have to trek into the middle of nowhere for a quest.

This mod allows you to fast travel directly to your custom marker to cut down the back and forth.

Whether or not that’s something you care about it depends on whether you’re a journey or a destiny kinda guy.

There’s definitely something to be said for taking in The Witcher 3’s beautiful scenery, but then again nothing is worse than being over-encumbered miles from a fast travel point. Wait, isn’t there a mod for that too?

Ciri – Skellige style

Ever wondered what Ciri would look like if she got in touch with her inner Viking while lost in the Skellige Isles?

Well, this mod makes wee fantasy a reality with a remodeled Ciri that looks like she’s ready for some serious rough and tumble with rival Celtic pirates.

There are a few different options to choose from, too, including a Ciri model with a giant scar on her face, and other models wearing various outfits.

Head on over to Bububull’s Nexus Mods page to download it.

Book Inspired Medallion

Another one for Andrzej Sapkowski lore hounds, this mod simply changes the medallions to the circular design described in the book.

That rounds off our 8 best Witcher 3 mods for July. Check back in next month for another round.
