(Weeks One & Two: Sept. 4-15)

destiny 2

With August coming to a close, 2017 shifts into the fall and the busiest season for video game releases. Whether you’re an action fan, or just need your next dose of annualized sports fun, you’re sure to find something for you over the next couple of months, so let’s check out what September 2017 has to offer the Xbox One.

The Xbox One doesn’t have a huge number of releases in the first week of September. In fact, it only has one, but that one title just happens to be one of the most anticipated titles of the year, Destiny 2. Bungie’s latest title will have Guardians fighting back against the darkness once more in the form of Commander Ghaul and his imposing Red Legion. Expect more of the social, FPS action fans came to know and love from the first game, but fleshed out in just about every conceivable way.

Things pick up a little more in September’s second week for the Xbox One. Most notably, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider releases Sept. 14, allowing players to close out the main story and step into the shoes of one of fans’ favorite side characters from Dishonored 2, Billie Lurk. Elsewhere, both basketball and hockey fans will get their yearly dose of the pastimes with updated rosters, new features, and the expected tweaks that come with each release. If you’re looking for something a little more tactical, however, you’ll be pleased to hear that XCOM 2’s War of the Chosen DLC also hits the Xbox One in September’s second week.

Here’s everything coming to the Xbox One in the first two weeks of September.

  • Sept. 6 – Destiny 2
  • Sept. 12 – NASCAR Heat 2
  • Sept. 12 – Pro Evolution Soccer 2018
  • Sept. 12 – XCOM 2: War of the Chosen DLC
  • Sept. 14 – Baja: Edge of Control HD
  • Sept. 14 – Dishonored: Death of the Outsider
  • Sept. 15 – NBA Live 18
  • Sept. 15 – NHL 18

(Week Three: Sept. 18-22)

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite

September’s third week brings the game that fighting fans have been waiting for. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite hits the Xbox One on Sept. 19 with its tag-team centered action and a roster of over 30 characters. You’ll be able to battle it out with all of your favorites from both universes including Mega-Man, Iron Man, Ryu, and even new additions like Gamora and Jedah Dohma.

If you’d prefer to let your skills on the court do the talking, then you’ll likely want to check out NBA 2K18 instead. Releasing on the same day as Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, NBA 2K18 will allow players to take themselves to the top in MyCAREER, build an unstoppable squad in MyTeam, and take control of their favorite NBA franchises or even entire leagues in MyLEAGUE and MyGM modes.

Here’s what Xbox One games you can get your hands on when they release in the third week of September 2017.

  • Sept. 19 – Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite
  • Sept. 19 – Pankapu
  • Sept. 19 – NBA 2K18
  • Sept. 22 – The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game
  • Sept. 22 – Project CARS 2

Rounding out September 2017 on the Xbox One is a lineup of games well worth getting excited about. Not only do soccer fans get to continue the journey of Alex Hunter in FIFA 18, as well as start fresh with their Ultimate Team, the long-awaited exclusive, Cuphead, is finally hitting the system on Sept. 29. Players will be able to embark on a journey to pay back their debt to the devil either on their own or with the help of a friend as they take on a series of challenging boss battles.

For those players who never got around to wandering the wasteland back when Fallout 4 released in 2015, fear not, as Bethesda has you covered. Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition hits the Xbox One on Sept. 26, taking all of the season pass content and post-launch updates and placing it into one definitive package.

Telltale Games also continues its Batman: The Enemy Within season at the end of September with its second episode. Players will continue to fight against The Riddler as he continues to terrorize Gotham City. Expect plenty of tough decisions and QTEs!
