As October approaches, the release schedule for video games reaches its busiest period. Fortunately for Xbox One owners, Microsoft’s system is getting more than its fair share of the hottest titles, too.

In the first week of October, the most notable release is the Xbox One and PC exclusive, Forza Motorsport 7. With an extensive roster of over 700 cars from Lamborghinis, Porches, and Fords, 30 iconic locations, and an intense dynamic weather system, there’s plenty of content and variables to keep fans racing for hundreds of hours. Forza Motorsport 7 will also be compatible with the Xbox One X when it releases in November, allowing players to witness the high-speed thrills at a stunning 4K resolution, 60fps, and in HDR.

October 2017’s second week brings two major third-party offerings to the Xbox One, too. Middle-earth: Shadow of War will see players building their own armies as they aim to conquer the dangerous lands of Mordor. The Nemesis system from the first game has seen a number of improvements, too, providing plenty more feuds and in-fighting among your enemies and allies alike.

The Evil Within 2, on the other hand, puts players back in control of Sebastian as he descends into another nightmarish world intent on saving his own life and his family. Just because you’re given the weapons and traps to take on the horrifying enemies doesn’t mean you have to use them. Players will always have the option to stay in the shadows and stay out of harm’s way… or y’know, you can just shoot ’em in the face. Whatever floats your boat!

XBOX ONE VIDEO GAME RELEASES OCTOBER 2017

(WEEKS THREE & FOUR: Oct. 16-27)

Assassin's Creed Origins, Xbox One X

Weeks three and four of October 2017 have their own fair share of games for the Xbox One, too. South Park: The Fractured But Whole will allow fans to head back to the snowy little town as the kids lock horns in a deadly battle between two superhero franchises. The spoils of this war? A Netflix deal. With a new crafting system, deeper combat, and even more outrageous moments than the first game, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Oct. 27 is arguably the busiest day of the whole year for video game releases. Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed finally makes its return in the form of Origins taking players to Egypt to uncover the roots of the Brotherhood. The whole game looks set to offer up deeper, RPG-like gameplay, and will also make use of the Xbox One X’s extra power when it eventually releases a couple of weeks later.

Meanwhile, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus brings us the next chapter of BJ Blazkowicz’s story that sees him attempting to crush the Nazi stranglehold on the world. With plenty of badass, futuristic weaponry, and some pretty crazy visuals courtesy of an acid trip, Wolfenstein II looks to be just as fast-paced, gory, and out-there as its predecessor.

You can check out the Xbox One release schedule for the final two weeks of October below.

  • Oct. 17 – South Park: The Fractured But Whole
  • Oct. 17 – ELEX
  • Oct. 17 – WWE 2K18
  • Oct. 24 – Just Dance 2018

  • Oct. 27 – Assassin’s Creed Origins
  • Oct. 27 – Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
