Call of Duty: WWII
(Xbox One, PS4, PC – Nov. 3)
November 2017 Games to Look Forward To
Call of Duty: WWII finally takes the series back to its roots after recent entries took us far into the future of military warfare. Sledgehammer Games are offering up a trio of game modes once more, with a single-player campaign that hopes to encapsulate the horror and emotions of being on the front line in Western Europe.
The multiplayer mode also sees a return, albeit with a few changes to the tried and tested formula. Classes are now replaced with Divisions, Headquarters offers up a social space for players to explore in between matches, and there’s an all-new scenario-based game mode called War (that we really liked) to keep the roster of game modes looking fresh.
To round things off, there’s also the popular co-op Zombies mode. Not a lot is known about Call of Duty: WWII’s take on this fan-favorite mode just yet, but we don’t have much longer to wait to try it out for ourselves.
Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds
(PS4 – Nov. 7)
November 2017 Games to Look Forward To
Horizon Zero Dawn amazed players and critics alike when it released earlier this year. Its beautifully-detailed world was teeming with robotic beasts all wrapped up in one big mystery for players to solve as they progressed. Well, turns out Guerrilla wasn’t done in the world just yet, and so we’re getting The Frozen Wilds next week.
The Frozen Wilds takes players to the northern mountains and the homelands of the Banuk tribe. With new story missions, beasts, weapons, and more to uncover along the way, there’s plenty of reason to be excited to dive back into Guerrilla Games’ immersive world once more.
Sonic Forces
(PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC – Nov. 7)
November 2017 Games to Look Forward To
Sonic Forces drops players into a world absorbed by chaos and ruin. Dr. Eggman has conquered much of the world and now it’s down to players to assist the iconic blue hedgehog in saving the day once more.
That’s right, you won’t be playing as Sonic, but fighting alongside the blue blur as your own customizable avatar. With a variety of zones from classic, fast-paced platforming sections, to more combat-focused stages, there’s sure to be something for everyone when Sonic Forces releases on Nov. 7.
Mario Party: The Top 100
(3DS – Nov. 10)
November 2017 Games to Look Forward To
Mario Party, as its name suggests, is an absolute must if you’ve got friends round and need some lighthearted mini-game fun. The short and simple challenges mean victory is within reach of any player, and what better roster to have for a party game than familiar faces from the Mushroom Kingdom?
Mario Party: The Top 100 is almost a celebration of the long-running series, cramming the most iconic 100 minigames from the series onto one 3DS cart. As an added bonus, the game also features Download Play, meaning four players can take part in the mini-game antics off one game card. We’re still wondering why this isn’t coming to the Switch, but with an eclectic selection of mini-games on offer, we certainly won’t turn this one down.
Need for Speed: Payback
(PS4, Xbox One, PC – Nov. 10)
November 2017 Games to Look Forward To
Set in the underworld of Fortune Valley, players will set out on a quest for vengeance against the cartel known as The House. However, rather than just playing as one character, you’ll be taking control of a number of different characters to take on challenges, win races, and complete missions in order to boost your standing in Fortune Valley and take down The House once and for all.
It wouldn’t be a Need for Speed game without plenty of tuning and customization options for your cars, though, and Payback looks set to offer that in droves.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
(Switch / PSVR – Nov. 17)
November 2017 Games to Look Forward To
Is there a platform that Skyrim hasn’t managed to find its way onto? Bethesda is ticking another two off the list in November, by bringing Skyrim not only to Nintendo’s Switch, but also to Sony’s PSVR.
Though there won’t be any drastic changes in the general gameplay experience in either version, each one has its own unique traits to entice players to explore this region of Tamriel once more.
The Switch version features motion controls to immerse yourself within the combat (if you’d like to), and also features some Legend of Zelda gear, too. Meanwhile, the PSVR version will finally allow players to really immerse themselves in the rich world that Bethesda has created.
Star Wars Battlefront II
(PS4, Xbox One, PC – Nov. 17)
November 2017 Games to Look Forward To
While Star Wars Battlefront kept plenty of fans happy with its stunning visuals, large-scale battles, and respectable roster of Heroes and Villains, there was one major omission that many just couldn’t overlook – there was no single-player campaign. Fortunately, DICE hasn’t made the same mistake this time, and has also upped the ante on its multiplayer offering, too.
Players will assume the role of Iden Versio, Commander of an Imperial Special Forces group known as Inferno Squad tasked with restoring order across the galaxy and crushing the Rebellion as it goes.
Add in a multiplayer mode with plenty of classes, iconic Star Wars characters, and up to 4o-player battles and you’ve got a pretty extensive Star Wars package. Plus, the post-launch DLC will be free this time around meaning the servers should be busy for years to come.
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon
(3DS – Nov. 17)
November 2017 Games to Look Forward To
When Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were first announced, many players were confused why what seemed like ordinary definitive editions of a Pokemon generation were coming to the same system just over a year later. Well, it turns out that Ultra Sun and Moon are far more than the base games with a few minor additions added on top.
There’s an entirely new storyline to dive into, more Ultra Beasts to grab, and an Ultra Wormhole to head on into and explore. According to Game Freak (via Siliconera), the story here is twice the size of that in the original games, so if you’re looking for another reason to return to the region, Ultra Sun and Moon have you covered.
Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV
(PSVR – Nov. 21)
November 2017 Games to Look Forward To
If you were looking to take a break from the main story in Final Fantasy XV, chances are at some point you went for a spot of fishing. Monster of the Deep takes the fishing from the main game and fleshes it out to be an immersive standalone experience for PSVR.
Players will embark on a fishing journey as they hit the road with Noctis, Gladio, Ignis, and Prompto. Whether you’re catching a small fish, or one of the otherworldly beasts lurking under the water, Monster of the Deep makes pretending to reel in fish with an imaginary fishing rod way more compelling than it sounds. Plus, you get to hang out with the gang at the end of the day around a campfire, and who doesn’t want to spend some time with the guys once more?
The Inpatient
(PSVR – Nov. 21)
November 2017 Games to Look Forward To
Supermassive Games’ Until Dawn put players in control of a corny and cliched story, allowing their decisions to dictate the turn of events. The result was one heck of a compelling and enjoyable game that offered up plenty of replay value. The studio’s latest foray into that world, The Inpatient, takes place 60 years before the events of Until Dawn.
With no memory of how you got there or who you are, you’ll awaken trapped within Blackwood Pines Sanatorium. Of course, that tells you everything you need to know that there’s something creepy going on, so it’s down to you to uncover the conspiracy of the Sanatorium and get out alive. The game also features branching narrative meaning every decision you make along the way will have an impact on the story. If you were a fan of Until Dawn’s storytelling and decision-based gameplay, you’ll want to check out The Inpatient when it hits PSVR on Nov. 21.
