Every month, we’re recapping the best selling video games as listed on Amazon across each console, so you’ll always be clued into what’s hot and what should have your attention.

This month, the most popular games are a mix of acclaimed hits spanning indie and AAA productions, and there are some standout upcoming titles arriving later in the fall that have clearly got a lot of gamers excited.

Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition peaked higher than any other game currently out this month, surpassing God of War despite having been out for substantially longer. We’re glad to see the momentum is still with Guerilla Games’ superb open-world experience, though perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised that its stellar reception makes it a consistent top performer most months. Other interesting takeaways include Darkest Dungeon making the list for July —the indie dungeon-crawling RPG is a brutal strategy game that has found a huge audience thanks to its awesome turn-based gameplay and unique art style. Grand Theft Auto V also makes its obligatory appearance on a best-selling list despite being five years old.

Despite their age, Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Recore are two Xbox One exclusives still holding their own after July 2018, at least on Amazon. Sure, they’re all at a discounted price compared to the past year or two’s hottest games, but it’s nice to see they’re being bought and appreciated in some capacity. Elsewhere, more recent exclusives such as Sea of Thieves remain popular, and the typical big-name third-party titles like Grand Theft Auto V are in the mix. No Man’s Sky’s resurgence to popularity is on full display as it ends up as the eighth best-selling Xbox One game (including pre-orders) of the month.

The Nintendo Switch’s best-selling game over the past month remains its critically acclaimed launch title, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. That’s truly stunning when you consider more recent titles such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Odyssey have typically proven stronger sellers in the past. Elsewhere, Octopath Traveler, the unique retro-inspired JRPG exclusive to Switch comes in at number two. Other interesting takeaways include the continued interest in Nintendo Labo, as well as third-party titles such as Skyrim and Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy.
