PS Plus Free Games Predictions

It’s about that time for some PS Plus free games predictions after an amazing couple of inclusions this past month.

In August 2020 we got the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered as well as a brand new battle royale Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout for free. It’s rare for Sony to offer a brand new game on PS Plus, but it’s proving to be an effective way to ramp up a player base with Fall Guys having over 85 million active players at the time of writing.

While the offical list for September has yet to be revealed, we predict the larger PS4 game for next month has a good chance of being Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands from Ubisoft.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is a tactical shooter with one of the biggest open worlds that Ubisoft has every published. It released in 2017 with a sequel Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint releasing in 2019, but it’s much more likely we would see the 2017 entry in the series on PS Plus first.

Sony usually gives AAA titles like Ghost Recon Wildlands a 2-3 year grace period on the console before they are considered for PS Plus. Sony is also very accustomed to offering Ubisoft games on PS Plus with past inclusions being:

  • Far Cry 2 in February 2012
  • Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon in December 2015
  • Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry in August 2017
  • For Honor in February 2019, and more

Not to mention a direct entry in the series Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier offered in June 2018.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is also currently for sale this month at 70% off bringing the price down to just $14.99. Sony will often put games on sale right before putting them on PS Plus to try and get a few more purchases before offering it for free.

If we don’t see Ghost Recon Wildlands next month, we predict it will be on PS Plus sometime very soon.

The Smaller Game – Enter The Gungeon

PS Plus Free Games Predictions

Usually a smaller game finishes off the duo every month, and for September 2020 we predict Enter The Gungeon would be a perfect inclusion both for its popularity and length of time since release.

It’s honestly surprising Enter The Gungeon has yet to be offered on PS Plus. First released in 2016 and developed by indie studio Dodge Roll, it gained immense popularity with currently over 46,000 overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam.

It’s a ‘bullet hell dungeon crawler’ where you and a rag tag group of fighters shoot and loot your way through a series of dungeons to try and find the Gungeon’s ultimate treasure, a gun that can shoot the past itself.

Like clockwork, every other month Enter the Gungeon goes on sale for 50% off on the PS Store, taking it’s price from $14.99 to $7.49. While it’s currently listed at it’s full price at the time of writing, it’s history of constantly going on sale makes it a viable prediction choice.

The loot and shoot/dungeon crawler/pixel art-esque sub-genre also has a history of being offered on PS Plus. For example Metal Slug XX in July 2013, The Binding of Isaac Rebirth in November 2014, Rogue Legacy in February 2015, Broforce in March 2016, and more.

Make sure to check back with Twinfinite in the next week or so for the offical reveal of the two PS Plus games for the upcoming month of September 2020.
