5 Pokemon Direct Predictions That’d Make It Worth Tuning In To

Pokemon Sleep

Pokemon Sleep, a new application for mobile phones, was one of the many things revealed during the Pokemon Press Conference last summer and it’s being developed by the same team who did Pokemon: Magikarp Jump.

It was advertised as a new way to make sleeping more enjoyable (as if it wasn’t already) by keeping track of your sleep patterns with a device called Pokemon GO Plus Plus. Yup, that is the actual name –this isn’t a joke.

Pokemon GO Plus Plus will basically be a replacement for the regular Pokemon GO Plus but you’ll get rewards for sleeping instead of for walking by transferring data via Bluetooth to your smartphone and Pokemon GO application.

Yes, it’s weird but it’s something that only Nintendo would be able to get away with.

It’s planned to launch sometime in 2020, so maybe we’ll hear some info about it during this Pokemon Direct on Thursday.

Pokemon Home Release Date

Also announced during that Pokemon Press Conference back in May, Pokemon Home is a cloud-based service that will finally let Switch users bring in their favorite Pokemon into Pokemon Sword and Shield and future Pokemon games on Switch, transferring them from Pokemon GO and Pokemon Bank on the 3DS.

Ever since that presentation, we have not heard much about the online service, but it was announced that it would be coming to the Switch in early 2020 and it only makes sense for The Pokemon Company to finally reveal a launch date during this special Pokemon Direct.

Expect information on pricing and other features as well.

Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC Revealed

The Pokemon Company has been slowly adding more and more timed events and content to Pokemon Sword and Shield like special Max Raid battles and Shiny Magikarps and it only makes sense for Game Freak to further support the Switch titles with paid downloadable content.

I’m not exactly sure what this content would entail. It could be in the form of new Pokemon being added, new battle modes, and special item packs. Either way, people who have already completed the main story and the post-game content are more than likely looking for more stuff to do in the game and they would be happy to make a small DLC purchase.

Detective Pikachu 2 Trailer

It took some time for the original Detective Pikachu game to come to the 3DS over here in the west and once it finally did, Pikachu fans were treated to a fantastic kid-friendly adventure that gave Pikachu a voice for the first time.

It was announced last year that Detective Pikachu would be getting a sequel on the Nintendo Switch, continuing the story from the original game. So no, the sequel will not be based on the Detective Pikachu film that released last year.

Considering how successful the live-action film was though, it makes sense for Detective Pikachu 2 to be released this year while the Pikachu hype is still high, and let’s face it, Pikachu hype is always high.

The Pokemon Company has yet to release any trailers or gameplay footage of this upcoming sequel and this Pokemon Direct would a great place to pull the curtain and show us more.

Pokemon Let’s Go Johto Reveal

pokemon direct

This prediction might be the most unlikely to actually happen during the 20-minute direct, simply because Pokemon Sword and Shield just came out, but there could still be a chance that we’ll see some sort of tease.

Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee released in 2018 and was a sort of HD reimagining of the Kanto region, allowing veterans and newbies to relive the first Pokemon adventure with tons of quality of life changes.

The Johto region would be the next step for the Let’s Go series, introducing new Pokemon players to the Japanese-inspired region and the legendary Pokemon, Ho-Oh and Lugia.

Again, there’s a big chance that this won’t be shown during the Nintendo Direct but for now, I think this has more of a chance than a Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remake, which is a title that lots of fans want to see.
