games with gold, predictions, october 2018

October is just around the corner, and while we wait for the official list of free games for Games with Gold from Microsoft, we have a few guesses at what some of those might include for the upcoming month. Usually a couple of larger games are featured to make players happy with the subscription, and for October 2018 we believe Rainbow Six Siege would be a great contender for a few reasons.

Firstly, Microsoft is used to including Ubisoft games in its Games with Gold lineup. As mentioned last month for September’s Games with Gold predictions, past Ubisoft inclusions include:

  • Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon in November 2016.
  • Assassin’s Creed: Revelations in April 2017.
  • Assassin’s Creed III in June 2017.
  • Watch Dogs in June 2017.
  • And most recently, For Honor in August 2018.

Rainbow Six Siege is an older Ubisoft release as well, originally dropping for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in December 2015. The more time that rests between a AAA game’s release date and the new Games with Gold list, the better the chances it will be included for free.

Secondly, Rainbow Six Siege has been offered for free for Xbox Live Gold Members in the recent past, when it was included in a Free Weekend in August 2018. When a game is offered for free on Xbox Live in some way, it’s not unlikely to see it offered for free to Games with Gold in the near future as well.

Another bigger game that could make the list is Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series. Both Sony and Microsoft love to include Telltale game series on their monthly free games lineups, and Guardians of the Galaxy has surprisingly yet to be included on either subscription. For examples of Telltale games we have already seen in Games with Gold, we had:

  • The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season in October 2015.
  • The Wolf Among Us in April 2016.
  • The Walking Dead: Season Two in April 2017.
  • Tales from the Borderlands in November 2017.

Check out page two where we look at a possible indie inclusion for October 2018 as well.
