NBA 2K Playgrounds 2

While NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 still fails to quite capture the magic of the arcade basketball action of NBA Jam or NBA Street back in the day, it does come with a list of achievements that players can easily rack up a good few hundred Gamerscore from. It’s also got a roster of both current ballers and NBA legends for you to create an ultimate team to take on the AI and other players against online. Alas, its arcade action only stays fun for so long, but you’ll be able to wrap up a chunk of its achievements by that point, anyway.

The game’s 1000 Gamerscore is divided up into 13 achievements, of which nine of them seem incredibly straightforward and make up about 600 of that 1000. You’ll need to do things like score 20 self alley-oops, buy 1 pack of any kind, win the NBA Season for the first time and on any difficulty. Essentially, play through the NBA Season mode, and you’ll likely have a fair few of the achievements unlocked, and a healthy boost to your Gamerscore. It’s still not delivered the arcade basketball gameplay that was oh so great back in the day, but at least the achievements are easy.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers

The Xbox One may not have Mario Kart, but that doesn’t mean you have to be completely without karting action. Nickelodeon Kart Racers is essentially a rip of Nintendo’s popular karting series, just with Nickelodeon characters at the helms of vehicles, rather than Mushroom Kingdom’s inhabitants. It’s a nice kids game, that’s for sure, but for you achievement hunters who don’t mind some easy gameplay, this is a walk in the park.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers has 1000 Gamerscore divided into 27 achievements, the smallest denomination of which is 25. Taking a look down the list, and it’s a relatively simple affair. Beat your record for the first time, take down three opponents in a single race. Play as each racer at least once. Win a race. You get the idea. Sure, unlocking every upgrade in the store may take a little bit longer, but it’s not difficult, just time-consuming. By just playing through all of the Cups on the highest difficulty, you’ll likely unlock a majority of the achievement list. Then, it’s a simple case of mopping up what’s leftover. If you can’t be bothered, we’d take a guess that you’ll end up walking away with at the very least 700 Gamerscore.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

best xbox one kids games, october 2018

LEGO DC Super-Villains decided to reverse the roles for once. Instead of having players assume the usual hero role, it was time for them to take control of typical villains, as they step up to the plate to uncover exactly what the deal is with earth’s new up-and-coming ‘wannabe’ superheroes.

The gameplay is your usual standard affair, with simple block-building puzzles, melee combat, and a plethora of iconic DC Villains and other characters to fill out the roster. And that, of course, means you’re getting a nice and easy list of achievements to make your way through, too.

By just playing through the story missions and reaching the end, you’ll unlock 400 of the 1000 Gamerscore on offer. Then, it’s the usual LEGO game achievements like collecting all characters, maxing out your stud bar in every level, creating your own character, and doing certain character-specific bits and pieces. If anything, LEGO DC Super-Villains is time-consuming, due to one achievement requiring 100% completion. However, due to it being suitable for kids, there’s rarely all that much you’ll have to do that’ll trip you up.
