20. Pinky
At the bottom of our list of Doom Eternal enemies, we start off with our darling Pinky who just loves trying to give you an aggressive hug. Overall, they’re not too annoying since you can easily sidestep them or jump over them.
The fact that Doom Eternal makes their tails the only real viable place to hit them makes them worse than the last game. Stick them in a crowd, however, and they turn into a big ball of “Surprise!”
19. Prowler
The Imp has been working out. The reason they’re higher than Pinky is simply because they jump and dash and are all around faster and more annoying. You could be circling the entire battle arena carefully kiting all of the enemies when suddenly a Prowler slides into view and wants to say hello.
18. Spectre
Pinky in disguise, the Spectre is essentially just an invisible wrecking ball. Having all of the same moves as Pinky renders it not too annoying but the fact that it’s harder to see can make it hell when you’re swarmed by a bunch of other enemies. Luckily, you can shoot a Spectre anywhere to cause decent damage unlike Mr. Pinky.
17. Fodder
This includes the little guys like Makyr Drones, Imps, Soldiers, and Lost Souls. They aren’t too difficult to beat but throw a bunch of them in with the big bad guys on our list and you get a whole mess of overwhelming and annoying.
The last thing you want when you’re focusing all your attention on the Marauder and Tyrant chasing you is a big flaming skull smacking into your face.
16. Carcass
The Carcass is honestly just there to annoy you. Its offensive capacity is essentially just throwing shields in your path and in front of enemies you were happily unloading ammo into.
This is one of those enemies that you can see miles ahead of where it actually is since its annoying little shield appears way before it does.
15. Cacodemon
A classic Doom enemy, Cacodemons are floating balls of anger and their attacks surprisingly hurt if you miss the opening to either throw a grenade in its mouth or dodge out of the way. Their attacks also have that tiny bit of knockback that isn’t appreciated when you’re standing precariously on a platform or moving out of the way of a bigger enemy’s attack.
14. Mancubus
The Mancubus is a meaty tank that likes to pepper you with shots from its arm cannons. Even after disabling their guns, these guys can still pack a heavy punch and take up a good chunk of your screen. Honestly, the main danger and annoyance these guys cause is the fact that they’re just so wide.
13. Pain Elemental
The super saiyan version of the Cacodemon, Pain Elementals are just Lost Souls carpooling together to get to the Doom Slayer. Lost Souls on their own are very annoying due to the fact that they seek and destroy the moment they get you in their line of sight but add in an enemy that literally spawns as many as it wants and you get a nightmare of annoyance.
12. Tentacles
Doom Eternal has plenty of enemies but nothing like these god awful Tentacles. If you don’t hit them in time or aren’t expecting them, they can whack at you with so much aggression and anger. Add in the unfavorable environment they’re usually in and these seemingly easy enemies turn into slapping animals.
11. Hell Knight
In Doom 2016, Hell Knights used to be the big bad guys you had to worry about but Doom Eternal practically kicks them out of the way in favor of literally everything else. Though, Hell Knights are still meaty, angry, sprint-y enemies that definitely would run a marathon to get to you. Add in more than one to the hellish battle you’re in and everything gets even crazier.
10. Dread Knight
Doom Eternal slaps swords on an enemy that was already annoying and a bother. Hell Knights are known for their powerful melees and punches so it just made sense to give them some swords, I guess. Now you have a really angry enemy running at you with a knife instead of their fists.
9. Arachnotron
My personal rival, Arachnotrons are long range annoyances that will happily hit you from as far away as they possibly can.
Of course, you have the ability to disable their cannons but if dozens of other enemies are in your way or you keep missing that tiny target then it all turns into a mess real fast. It also doesn’t help that they’re pretty tanky and mobile so tracking them with your weapon can get tedious.
8. Doom Hunter
Initially a boss encounter, Doom Hunters are literally designed to annoy the hell out of you. They have two phases so dealing with them within a large group of enemies will take longer than say the Hell Knight or Cacodemon.
You also need the plasma gun to seriously damage it in its first phase so add that onto the list of a thousand things you’re already doing.
7. Cyber-Mancubus
The Mancubus but with clothes, the Cyber-Mancubus requires an extra hit before you can start doing some real damage.
Without a Blood Punch, they will tank hits like nobody’s business so it’s best to hit pause on damaging them if you don’t have a Blood Punch ready.
Their cannons aren’t vulnerable either when they have their armor on so the Mancubus suddenly turns into an enemy you have to worry about.
6. Baron of Hell
The Barons return in Doom Eternal but this time with flaming swords because why not?
Not only are they heavy hitters that are determined to knock your head off your shoulders, they also tank hits to the point of being able to survive the BFG. A lot of ammo has to go into them before they’ll even remotely be able to get taken down.
5. Cyberdemon/Tyrant
Known as the Tyrant to most of us, the Cyberdemon packs together all of the annoying things from the other Doom Eternal enemies into one angry body. It’s huge, angry, has a giant health bar, packs a serious punch, and it’s pretty mobile despite its size.
It’s one of those enemies that is hard enough dealing on its own. Doom Eternal, the sadist that it is, can throw two at you in addition to all of the other enemies you need to deal with.
4. Revenant
Mr. Doot Doot, the Revenant is another one of those long ranged enemies that just loves peppering you with shots from as far away as it possibly can. It’s also extremely mobile so trying to get in its face can be pretty difficult.
Luckily, in Doom Eternal, you can shoot off its cannons but when there’s more than one or you don’t have time to take care of its cannons, Doot Doot becomes an actual nightmare.
3. Whiplash
An absolute pain, Whiplash is ridiculously agile and mobile. Its attacks on their own aren’t that terrible but these enemies move around so much that it’s near impossible to hit them.
Their snake-y and ridiculously dodgy movements are incredibly frustrating especially when you’re trying to hit them and other enemies at the same time. Add in the fact that their thin and flat bodies make them a hard target then you get a whole pile of annoyance.
2. Arch-vile
Some would consider the Arch-vile Doom Eternal’s most annoying enemy especially since it can literally spawn other big bad guys at the drop of a hat. To top it off, the enemies it spawns get a health and damage buff for as long at it’s alive.
It can also shield itself for a time in a bubble of fire that you have to impatiently wait out before you can damage it. Even then, it has a big health pool and it’s one of the few enemies that actively runs away from you.
You’ll see it spawning other enemies way before you’ll be able to find it and even then it’s a chore to kill it. Overall, the Arch-vile is just meant to ruin your day.
1. Marauder
To no one’s surprise, the Marauder takes the top spot for being Doom Eternal’s most annoying enemy. Essentially a mini-boss every time it shows up, the Marauder requires patience and tact over just shooting at it until it’s dead. It quite literally keeps you from doing that.
It throws up a shield every time you attack it at the wrong time, it requires you to be at a certain distance for you to bait the only attack you can counter, and it instantly becomes your priority when it shows up during a battle. It also sprints at you like crazy and it spawns a wolf that wants to bite your ankles.
Doom Hunters may have been designed to take on the Doom Slayer but it’s the Marauder that really feels like your true enemy.
