What’s New in Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris? Everything You Need to Know
As the name suggests, the Curse of Osiris expansion will explore the legend of a Warlock Guardian named Osiris. This is a name that lore buffs will recognize, and it looks like we’ll finally get to learn more about him in Destiny 2. According to the trailers and cinematics we’ve seen so far, it’s clear that Ikora (the Warlock vanguard) will be heavily involved in the new story.
Guardians will be tasked with stopping a Vex invasion on Mercury. However, they’ll also need Osiris’s help to accomplish this task. The Vex were able to open a temporal time gate on the planet while the Guardians were distracted by the Cabal and the Red War, so it’s up to us to investigate this transgression and put an end to it. It’s also worth noting that Osiris was Ikora’s mentor, so it should be fun to see how both characters interact with each other when they do reunite.

Previously, Mercury has only been available as a Crucible PvP map, but that changes in the Curse of Osiris expansion. This time around, Mercury will be a full-fledged planet that you can explore in the game, which means that you’ll be able to engage in activities here, and also complete other missions.
It’s expected that most of the new story content in the expansion will take place on Mercury itself. In addition to that, the Mercury Lighthouse will also be available as a new social space. So if you’ve gotten sick of the Tower and the Farm, you’ll have another nifty social area to retreat to.
If you’re playing on PS4, Curse of Osiris will also bring a new Crucible map called Wormhaven. There’s no ETA on when the PlayStation-exclusive content will come over to Xbox One just yet.
End Game Content

Once you’ve cleared all of the story content in Curse of Osiris, you can expect to take part in other end game activities to continue the loot grind. With the expansion, the Power level cap in Destiny 2 will be raised to 330. This means that you could technically hit a Power level of 335 if you’re willing to invest in gear mods. With the raised level cap, there will also be new weapons and equipment to collect.
Of course, all this just means that there will be new Heroic Strikes and Public Events to engage in. We don’t have a lot of details on the new Strikes just yet, but Mercury will feature Public Events, Adventures, and Lost Sectors for you to tackle. You can also earn Mercury Tokens, which are exchanged with Brother Vance for new equipment.
Also new in Osiris are Lost Prophecies. Similar to the bounties from the first Destiny, Lost Prophecies will reward players with legendary weapons on a weekly basis. Each one is a tablet acquired from Brother Vance that requires players to complete certain steps in order to finish. They are then submitted to Brother Vance who will transform the tablet into an item that can be taken to the forge and exchanged for one of 11 unique Osiris-themed weapons.
As for a new Raid, players might be a little disappointed there isn’t an all-new raid for Curse of Osiris. Instead, there will be a Raid Lair found inside the Leviathan area, where players can engage in new encounters and fight against a new final boss. This Raid Lair will take less time to complete than the Leviathan Raid.
Curse of Osiris is the first expansion to hit Destiny 2 in its first year, and it’ll be released on Dec. 5.
