Happy Birthdays (June 5)

Best Switch Games in June 2018

Created by Yasuhiro Wada, who’s best known for bringing us the Harvest Moon games, Happy Birthdays is a sandbox title where players can literally create and shape new worlds to give life to unique and interesting lifeforms. Players will be able to customize the geography of whatever world they wish to create, and also develop a new ecosystem and watch as creatures begin to inhabit it. You won’t just be managing animals and dinosaurs either; the plants and other floral life will also be different, depending on how you shape your world.

Happy Birthdays is a pretty good fit for the Nintendo Switch because it’s a game that’s easy to pick up and play whenever you want, and it’s a nice filler title to enjoy in between the bigger releases.

The Lost Child (June 19)

Best Switch Games in June 2018

For the RPG fans out there, The Lost Child is one title that you should definitely keep an eye out for. Developed by Kadokawa Games and published by NIS America, The Lost Child follows the story of occult journalist Hayato Ibuki as he finds himself caught up in a world inhabited by celestial beings, and angels and demons. A strange girl gives him a device that allows him to capture these creatures, and he has to solve the mystery at the core of this world and potentially decide the fate of humanity.

The Lost Child looks to be pretty dialogue-heavy, and it also features RPG-style turn-based battles with some exploration thrown in there as well. In between battles, players will also explore dungeons in first-person, similar to the Etrian Odyssey games and older Shin Megami Tensei titles.

Mario Tennis Aces (June 22)

This is probably the biggest game releasing for the Switch this month, and it’s shaping up to be yet another fun party title you can bring around with you. Mario Tennis Aces is basically a tennis game featuring your favorite characters from the Mario games. Because it’s a tennis game, you’ll be able to make use of the Joy-Con motion controls (similar to Wii Sports – Tennis), and also enjoy intense matches with different mission objectives and boss battles.

The best part is, the game features online and local multiplayer as well. This means that you can play with or against your friends at home, or take your skills online. Mario Tennis Aces supports up to four players, so you’ll definitely want to make sure you have enough Joy-Cons to pass around when playing locally.

Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy (June 29)

As if the Nintendo Switch didn’t have enough quality platformers already, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy will be making its way to the hybrid console later in the month. The HD remake of the game looks absolutely stunning, and Vicarious Visions have done a stellar job of making the game look good, while also keeping the gameplay as close and faithful to the original as possible. The environments and particle effects in the N.Sane Trilogy are gorgeous, and the game just pops with life and vibrancy.

The Crash Bandicoot games are pretty tough as well, and this package should fit in nicely with the rest of your Switch platforming collection, right next to Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (June 29)

Best Switch Games in June 2018

Bethesda has been really good to Switch fans since the release of the console. Their ports of Skyrim and DOOM have been excellent, and we’re excited to see how Wolfenstein II performs on the console. While we felt that DOOM’s graphics looked more than a little lackluster on the Switch, we were definitely pleased to see that the game was able to maintain a consistent frame rate the whole time. Despite the battery drain when playing in handheld mode, the frame rate made Doom a fun FPS game that we could pick up and play whenever we wanted.

Wolfenstein II is also an intense shooter game, and as long as the frame rate is stable, Switch fans will have a lot to look forward to when it finally releases on June 29.
