Subsurface Circular (March 1)
Best Switch Games to Have on Your Radar in March 2018
Subsurface Circular was developed by Mike Bithell, whom you might know for his work on games like Thomas Was Alone and Volume. This particular title isn’t really long, and you’d probably be able to beat it in one sitting, but the narrative it has to offer is very much worth your time and attention.
The game’s story explores the robotic working class of a city, and players take control of a detective who must investigate a series of disappearances that have been going on. As you speak with other NPCs and interact with the city, you’ll collect various words and phrases to solve puzzles and get closer to the heart of the mystery. It’s essentially a text-based adventure with a few puzzle elements, but the presentation itself is modern and gorgeous.
Scribblenauts Showdown (March 6)
Best Switch Games to Have on Your Radar in March 2018
It’s been a while since we last saw a new Scribblenauts game, but the adorable series is back with Scribblenauts Showdown and it’ll be coming to the Switch on March 6. The game can be enjoyed as a solo experience or with up to four other friends as you make use of the in-game dictionary to try to outsmart each other in a variety of mini-games.
Just like past Scribblenauts titles, you can literally make your imagination come to life with whatever wacky creations or words you can think of, as long as it’s within family-friendly limits of course. The game also offers up a sandbox mode where you can go wild with your creations, and you can test your imagination against a friend or the CPU in Versus Mode.
Kirby Star Allies (March 16)
Best Switch Games to Have on Your Radar in March 2018
This is probably the big game every Switch owner’s going to want to keep their eyes open for in March 2018. Kirby Star Allies will be releasing on the 16th, and players will once again get to take control of the cute (and somewhat sinister) pink blob that seems to just seduce anything that gets in its way.
In Star Allies, Kirby will be able to recruit enemies over to its side by hitting them with hearts, and a few recognizable copy abilities will also make a return. These include Sword, Fire, Water, and Bomb, just to name a few. Of course, if you’re hoping to enjoy the game with friends, co-op functionality is included so you can play with up to four other people with split Joy-Cons and the Pro controller.
Attack on Titan 2 (March 20)
Best Switch Games to Have on Your Radar in March 2018
The original Attack on Titan was a bit of a surprise hit when it originally launched back in 2016. The combat and the art style were so faithful to the anime series and manga, and playing the game literally felt like you had been transported into that devastated world. We were most impressed with how Omega Force implemented the 3D-maneuver gear in combat, and getting to swing around Trost made us feel like, well, Spider-Man.
Attack on Titan 2 will continue the story from where we last left off, as the Survey Corps continue to investigate the Beast Titan and Annie’s origins. If the first game was any indication, Attack on Titan 2 will also feature optional side quests you can pursue in your own time, along with some light RPG mechanics as you upgrade your weapons and get better horses.
Outlast 2 (Mar. 27)
Best Switch Games to Have on Your Radar in March 2018
The month certainly wouldn’t be complete if the Switch didn’t have at least one quality port joining its library. The port in question for March 2018 is none other than Outlast 2. The first game is already available on the Switch, so this would be perfect for those just joining in on the fun.
Outlast 2’s story can be enjoyed as a standalone experience for the most part, but we definitely recommend playing the first one so you won’t completely miss some of the lore references. Just like its predecessor, Outlast 2 is all about sneaking past psychopaths, and using a video recorder’s night vision mode to see in the dark, as well as record everything that’s happening to you. It’s a pretty ingenious mechanic first introduced in Outlast, and it’s still effective here.
The story puts you in control of Blake Langermann, a journalist who crash lands in an Arizona desert. He finds himself trapped in a village full of cultists as he tries to locate his missing wife who was in the helicopter with him. Along the way, he’s forced to relive dark moments in his past. Things get pretty freaky.
