Best Switch Games in November 2018
Transistor (Nov. 1)
If you’ve played any of Supergiant’s games so far, but somehow missed Transistor, you should definitely pick it up. As the second major game from Supergiant, Transistor is a top-down, isometric RPG with a sci-fi setting. Unlike Bastion, however, the game allows you to play it as either a turn-based RPG or as a more fast-paced action game.
Set in the neon city of Cloudbank, players take control of a singer named Red, who’s on a revenge mission to hunt down the people who killed her boyfriend. Meanwhile, her boyfriend’s soul is trapped inside a giant sword that Red carries around, and he’s voiced by the insanely talented Logan Cunningham, also known for his outstanding performance in Bastion.
Transistor’s story isn’t terribly long, but it’s full of fun side challenges that will test your skills with the game’s combat system, and there are tons of modifiers you can make use of to turn up the difficulty as well. Transistor’s reasonable length and style of gameplay suits the Switch very well, just as Bastion did, and this is one of the best Switch games you should keep an eye out for this month.

Diablo III: Eternal Collection (Nov. 2)
For those of you who love looking at numbers and watching them go up as you play, Diablo III is your game. Diablo III: Eternal Collection is a complete package that comes with all the previously released content and updates we’ve seen over the years. Whether you’re a new player or veteran, Eternal Collection is a great entry point because of the way it’s structured.
For new players, you can start out with the campaign as per normal, and get familiarized with the game’s systems. As for veterans, you’ll be glad to know that adventure mode is made available right from the start, and you can also jump straight into seasons to start climbing the leaderboards.
It certainly helps that Blizzard’s done such a fantastic job with this port as well. Diablo III on Switch features local co-op, where you can have up to four players engage in splitscreen play on one console. However, you and your friends can also play together via a wireless LAN connection if you’ve got multiple Switches as well. Co-op is seamless, making this the perfect, grindy loot game to take with you on the go. Diablo III also runs at a smooth 60fps in both docked and handheld modes, and the game just runs like a dream.
Diablo III: Eternal Collection is one of the best Switch games for co-op, and if that sounds like something you’d be interested in, this is worth your time.

World of Final Fantasy Maxima (Nov. 6)
To be honest, World of Final Fantasy didn’t really impress me when it first released on PS4 and Vita a couple of years ago. Sure, getting to revisit my favorite series characters in chibi form was cool and all, but it was also structured around a new story and two new original characters that couldn’t be less interesting if they tried.
If you can look past the subpar story, however, World of Final Fantasy boasts a pretty unique combat system where you’ll have to manage your characters and creatures’ large and small sizes to use different abilities in battle. As you progress through the game, you’ll also unlock Champion Medals that allow you to summon Final Fantasy characters to help you in battle.
This new Maxima update will introduce new heroes, along with a brand new system that turns the original characters, Reynn and Lann, into Champions. World of Final Fantasy Maxima’s bite-sized gameplay style makes it an excellent fit for the Switch, and it’s a good one to keep an eye on if you’re a JRPG fan.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI (Nov. 16)
And here we have the famous “one more turn” game. Civilization VI probably needs no introduction at this point, but just in case you’re new to this dangerous series, Civ VI is essentially a management sim in which you build your own civilization from the ground up. As the years go by, you’ll make more modern improvements to your country, and your goal is to be the most advanced civilization in the world.
Of course, you could also eliminate the competition by just creating better combat units and going to war with the whole world for a domination victory. But if you’d like to approach things with a little more finesse, you could achieve victory through cultural, religious, or scientific dominance instead. In addition to that, you’ll also need to make sure your people are happy and satisfied.
With the Switch port, Civ VI will be making use of the console’s touchscreen capabilities as well, which should make this a much more manageable game to control. Civilization VI is one of the best games in its genre, and should be one of the best time-wasting Switch games you can get once it releases this November.

Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee (Nov. 16)
Probably the most anticipated Switch game for November 2018, Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee are full-blown remakes of Pokemon Yellow, which originally released for the Game Boy. The series’ debut on the Switch is taking us back to the Kanto region, which should make for quite the nostalgic trip for those of us who grew up with Pokemon.
There are a few caveats to be aware of, however. For instance, Pokemon Let’s Go is quite clearly geared towards the more casual Pokemon GO crowd, which is evident from the way the capturing system works. There won’t be random battles to get into here, as your only options would be to either flee from battle or capture a Pokemon. Let’s Go will also require you to make use of the motion controls to flick your Poke Ball to catch your Pokemon.
Despite that, there’s no denying that the game looks gorgeous, and we absolutely can’t wait to dive into this remade version of the Kanto region. Pokemon Let’s Go will also come with limited multiplayer and co-op abilities, which should be a good time.
And those are our picks for the best Switch games to look out for in November 2018. If you think we’re missing out on anything, be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
