Best Steam Games of March 2018

It’s been a long time coming, but fans can finally play Final Fantasy XV on their PC through Steam. The game originally launched back on the PS4 and Xbox One back in November 2016, with game director Hajime Tabata dropping many hints about a potential PC version back at the time. The Windows Edition is the best version of the game to date, offering stunning visuals and tight real-time combat. Square Enix also added a few new exclusive features for good measure, including a first-person mode, a royal boat, and even a new ‘Armiger Unleashed’ ability.

The latest entry in the JRPG series follows Prince Noctis and his friends, Gladio, Ignis, and Prmpto, and an adventure to reclaim his rightful throne as the King of Lucis. Players will travel through Eos on the Regalia, exploring different terrains and cities, all the while taking on various quests. Gone are the days of turn-based battles, but instead, you’ll be ripping through your enemies with a collection of weapons and royal armaments you’ll collect on your journey. Aside from the main story, the Windows Edition on Steam also includes all of the previously released DLC.

Square Enix also plans to support the game until 2019, having announced a slew of new downloadable character episodes next year. There’s no better way to play Final Fantasy XV than through the Windows Edition on Steam.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2

Best Steam Games of March 2018

Call your friends for another grizzly adventure in Warhammer: Vermintide 2, which launched on Steam just last March. This first-person action game sends players on a grueling battle against the humanoid rat men, the Skaven, and a new faction called the Chaos. The sequel picks up from the first game, with Grey Seer Rasknitt capturing the five Heroes of Ubersreik. It’s up to you and your friends to put an end to his vile schemes and fend off the remaining threats plaguing the land.

The game features five classes to choose from, each with their own specific skill. The characters are divided into 15 different careers, and you can choose which traits and abilities you prioritize. While you can clear the main story alone, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 truly shines when you’re off gallivanting through different levels with your friends. You’ll also need to work closely with your team throughout the harder levels in the game, and there’s nothing more satisfying than stopping waves upon waves of enemies as a group. Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is definitely worth looking into if you’re looking for a gritty multiplayer game on Steam.

Devil May Cry HD Collection

Best Steam Games of March 2018

While we’re still waiting on DMC 5, the Devil May Cry HD Collection is more than enough to tide us over for now. Originally launching on Steam last March, you can play all three original games in the series for the price of one. Follow Dante on his devil hunting adventures, from his fight against Mundus to his sibling rivalry with Vergil.

What makes the Devil May Cry series so popular is its fast-paced action and over-the-top combat. Dante has access to a collection of weapons, all of which he can use during combat to string combos. From guns to swords, the game adapts to your own fighting style. You can even transform into a demon, granting you new and powerful attacks. It’s not all about killing devils, however, since there are also several puzzle-solving and exploration elements mixed in for good measure. There’s never a dull moment in Devil May Cry, and the HD Collection is perfect for both newcomers and veterans alike.

Attack on Titan 2

Best Steam Games of March 2018

Attack on Titan 2 is a direct sequel to the first game, bringing players closer to the action than ever before. Instead of playing as Eren and his friends, you create your very own character who joins the Survey Corps in the battle against the Titans. The plot picks up from where the manga left off and deploys players on various Titan-slaying missions. When you’re not out on duty, players can also explore the kingdom behind the Walls and even bond with some of the characters in the game.

The main campaign can be completed alone, but the game does offer co-op if you’d like to play with a friend. There are different multiplayer missions you can take on, each usually revolving around slaying Titans. Meanwhile, there’s also a PvP mode where players compete to earn the highest points by slaying the most enemies. And if you’ve ever wanted to be a Titan yourself, there’s another multiplayer mode that lets you wreak havoc as a giant inside the city. Earn point by destroying structures and eating citizens, but make sure you don’t get killed by members of the Survey Corps. Attack on Titan 2 is a great Steam game filled with plenty of action and is worth looking into, whether you’re a fan of the show or not.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

Best Steam Games of March 2018

JRPG fans are in for a treat with this role-playing game developed by Level-5. Play as a young king, Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum, on his expedition to start a new kingdom after being usurped from his castle. He isn’t alone, however, as he’s joined by a motley group of charming characters who help him on his quest. Ni no Kuni II drifts away from the traditional turn-based combat for something more streamlined and fast-paced. Players can control different characters during fights set in an open field, allowing you to move freely and attack. During combat, you can use different melee attacks and magical abilities to damage enemies.

There are plenty of places to explore in the game, and you can traverse between towns, kingdoms, and dungeons through the game’s overworld. You can also take up any side quests you stumble upon, earning nifty rewards for completing the task. And, of course, you can actually build your very own kingdom by crafting various facilities and employing citizens to manage them. A charming game tied together with beautiful graphics and a heartwarming storyline, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom on Steam is that JRPG fix you’ve been looking for.

The Far Cry franchise makes an explosive comeback on Steam with the fifth entry in the series. Take a trip down to Hope County, Montana – a mountainous locale sprawling with beautiful vistas, thriving wildlife, and home to a fanatical cult called Eden’s Gate. Led by psychopath Joseph Seed, he and his followers have been ravaging the beautiful region and committing crimes. As the deputy, it’s up to you and your newfound friends to put a stop to Eden’s Gate and free Hope County once and for all. You’ll have plenty of weapons in your arsenal to deal with any fanatical cult members and vicious animals that prowl through the county.

Far Cry 5’s campaign offers a great experience if you’re playing alone, but you can also clear the entire game with a friend. On top of that, the game also comes with an impressive map editor wherein players can actually develop their own maps. From parodies to real locations from other games, the map editor already has a pretty impressive library of user-made maps. With a solid campaign and an immersive map editor, you’ll be sinking hours into this game on Steam.

Here, you play as a pair of twins who work alongside their father in managing the family atelier. Business is far from booming thanks to their dad’s lack of experience, but the two manage to turn things around when they discover their unique ability to enter mysterious worlds within paintings.

While the game does have a combat system, the main focus lies within the intricate alchemy system. By collecting different materials, players can craft all sorts of items. Things such as potions, crystals, and food, are needed for various quests that raise the atelier’s rank. Unlike most JRPGs, Atelier Lydie & Suelle isn’t about stopping an evil villain or saving the day. Instead, it boils down to crafting different items and saving your family business.
