XBOX GAMES WITH GOLD FREE GAMES PREDICTIONS FOR AUGUST 2018

NBA 2K18, Resident Evil 6, predictions, games with gold

Every month, Games with Gold gifts its members with a few free games they can download within a certain time-frame before they are once again offered at their full, original price. Although the official list for those free games for August 2018 has yet to be released, we have some predictions of what may make it to players next month.

With Games with Gold, usually one or two larger titles make the list and for next month we believe one of those larger games will be Resident Evil 6 Remastered. After the original released in 2012, a remastered version of Resident Evil 6 came to PS4 and Xbox One back in 2016. Resident Evil 6 was actually included in the Xbox Game Pass starting way back in July 2017, and it’s very not uncommon for Game Pass games to also have been available through Games with Gold as well. For example, The Escapists, Gears of War (1,2, and 3), Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Oxenfree, Bayonetta, and more have all been offered on both Games With Gold and Xbox Game Pass at one point in time.

Another likely candidate is NBA 2K18 to make the sports fans happy. While NBA 2K16 and 2K17 are both currently on the Xbox Game Pass, NBA 2K18 is still fully priced on the Microsoft store, though it released back in September 2017. However, it has been offered as free-to-play on a few limited-time occasions through Xbox Live Gold including in February 2018 and June 2018. When a game is offered for free on one Microsoft service, even for a limited time, it’s not hard to imagine it might be offered for free in the future in one way or another.

Check out page two where we take a stab at guessing what indie title could make it to Games with Gold in August 2018.

INDIE

XBOX GAMES WITH GOLD FREE GAMES PREDICTIONS FOR AUGUST 2018

It’s incredibly common for Microsoft to include an indie that is available for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One on Games with Gold to please as many subscribers as possible, therefore we believe 2D side-scroller Castle Crashers would be a perfect candidate.

Well-received when it was released in 2008 and still remembered as one of the best beat em’ up side-scrollers ever made, Castle Crashers first came to Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live Arcade as part of the Xbox Live Summer of Arcade in 2008, and didn’t come to PS3 until 2010 or PC until 2012. It’s honestly surprising it has yet to be included on Xbox Games with Gold since it is such a fondly received indie that was launched exclusively with Microsoft. If we don’t see Castle Crashers next month, then don’t be surprised to see it sometime in the near future.

Make sure to check back in a couple weeks when Microsoft will announce the official list of free Games with Gold titles for August 2018.
