The first few months of the year are historically a quiet time for video games but the last few years have bucked that trend. With the huge February and March that we were treated to in 2017, and the releases that came in previous years, such as Far Cry Primal, it had begun to get close to the frantic release schedule of Fall time. February 2018 doesn’t quite match last year’s impressive slate, but there’s still a lot to be excited about.

The first week of February is arguably the biggest in terms of the number of releases, with 20 games coming to a variety of platforms. The most notable release is probably the remake of Shadow of the Colossus from Bluepoint, the developer that worked on The Nathan Drake Collection and PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale. It brings the classic PlayStation 2 game to a new audience on the PlayStation 4, allowing those who haven’t played it before the chance to experience it when it looks the best it has ever done.
Also, the long awaited Batallion 1944 finally comes to PC in Early Access alongside Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age on the first day of the month. The wonderful adventure game, Night in the Woods also comes to the Nintendo Switch on Feb. 1 after impressing on PlayStation 4 and PC in 2017.
