Nioh – Feb. 9
The first PS4 exclusive of February 2017 comes from Team Ninja, the studio that brought us games like Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, and Hyrule Warriors Legends. Nioh is a Souls-like game set in ancient Japan. You’ll face off against mythological monstrosities, demons, and powerful warriors in tough combat that does not hold anything back. Nioh tests your wit, reflexes, and resolve as you’re introduced to death time and time again.
If the previous demos are anything to go by, this will not be for the faint of heart. However, if you’re looking for an action RPG that pushes you to your limits while you get to explore an absolutely beautiful world, this is definitely a game to keep an eye out for.Â
Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin (PSVR) – Feb. 21
Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin is the next entry in this fan-loved series from Double Fine Productions and is exclusive to the PS4’s virtual reality headset, the PSVR. Unlike the first Psychonauts game, this one will not be a platformer, and will instead take the route of a more typical point-and-click adventure game.
While it’s not exactly what fans of Psychonauts may be looking for, you can definitely expect Double Fine’s signature human as you dive into the minds of wacky characters and solve puzzles as you figure out what makes everyone tick.Â
Horizon Zero Dawn – Feb. 28
Horizon Zero Dawn has been on the radar of PS4 owners for a long time now as the next PS4 Exclusive everyone’s gotta have. Guerrilla Games decided to step away from the first-person shooters that they’re known for and moved on to an open-world, action game that puts a spin on the post-apocalyptic games we’ve been receiving over the past few years. Taking place in a world that is re-awakening after a mysterious cataclysm that ended civilization as we know it, players take control of Aloy as she ventures out to deal with the few remaining humans in the world and a new threat.
The game looks absolutely stunning, and it will be interesting to see how players reconnect with a world that nature has already claimed for itself. If you have a PS4, this absolutely needs to be on your radar come February. Guerrilla Games has outdone itself, and Sony’s console is all the better for it.
