Yu-Gi-Oh has been around for such a long time now, with the anime series spanning multiple generations with dozens of iconic characters being brought into the fold.

Legacy of the Duelist allows you to relive some of the best story moments from the anime and lets you go toe-to-toe with characters like Kaiba and Jaden.

The classic card battling game has had tons of iterations and changes since it debuted back in the late 90s, but now you can learn all of the new rules and build your perfect deck with all of your favorite cards.

Being the first Yu-Gi-Oh game to come to the Switch, August will be a great month for those that can’t get enough when it comes to taking down your opponent’s life points and sending them to the shadow realm.

This might be a low-key Switch release for August but to some folks, this might be the game of the year for them.

Oninaki – New Switch Games (August 2019)

Oninaki is an upcoming classic JRPG that comes from Tokyo RPG Factory, the same team that developed I Am Setsuna and Lost Sphear.

The team focuses on creating lower budget JRPG’s that harken back to turn-based titles like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy with each title sporting an original story yet familiar battle system and themes.

Oninaki looks to be the next step for the developers as it looks much more modern and better-looking than their past two games.

Here’s a synopsis from Square Enix themselves if you want a deeper look into the premise of the story:

“Reincarnation is the foundation of our way of life. We celebrate the lives we’ve been given, and offer up prayers for the next. It is the grief of death which shackles the living and causes the dead to stray.

Indeed, there is no greater affront to reincarnation. So do we turn our grief to joy as we send off the dead?

But the souls of those who held back their tears in life still need salvation in death. A duty that falls to the Watchers. Their task is to guide the wandering souls known as the Lost and serve as keepers of the Living World and the Beyond.

The Watchers sever the bonds that tie the Lost to this world and send them on to the next. They navigate the emotions of the living and the dead. They prize life above all else.

This is the story of one Watcher.”

In terms of new Switch game releases for August go, having a new JRPG like this to take on the go is great to see.

Astral Chain – New Switch Games (August 2019)

Astral Chain, nintendo switch releases for August

Astral Chain is a synergetic action game that comes from the insane minds over at PlatinumGames. If you’ve played their other titles (NieR: Automata, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising) you will probably have a good sense of what type of game this is.

Set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic setting, you basically play as a member of a task force that deals with eliminating enemies by using the help of your partner. By controlling two characters at once, you have to pull off stylish and sleek moves in real-time battles.

When you’re not taking care of the deadly invasion, you’ll also be slowing things down and investigating crimes and exploring the city for clues and whatnot.

This is the biggest Switch game release for the month of August and we cannot wait to get our hands on it and see what all of the fuss is about.
