(Week One: 6/1 – 6/3)

tekken 7, akuma

June kicks things off strong with a highly anticipated fighter that changes things up to bring a classic series back to the forefront of its genre. Tekken 7 launches on the PS4 and Xbox One on Friday, June 2 and introduces new mechanics, a faster, more fluid fighting engine, and Street Fighter’s resident demon, Akuma. The powerful fighter isn’t just there for show either. He’s been worked to feel familiar to fans of the Street Fighter series while also fitting in perfectly into Tekken’s mechanics. The developers even worked him into the story. For those not into fighting games, or prefer to game on PC, Formula Fusion brings anti-gravity racing reminiscent of Wipeout to the PC.

(Week Two: 6/4 – 6/10)

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, games, quiet months

The second week of June has a bit more to offer owners of PS4, Xbox One, and PC. RPG fans have two solid options with Dark Rose Valkyrie, which comes to the PS4 developed by Compile Heart (Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force, Hyperdimension Neptunia). On the MMO side of things, The Elder Scrolls Online receives its massive Morrowind expansion which adds a new area, new classes, new threats, and other new content for explorers. Telltale continues its onslaught of adventure games with the second episode of Guardians of the Galaxy on consoles, PC, and mobile devices. And racing fans aren’t left out in the dark either as Dirt 4 and Wipeout Omega Collection are both due out.

Arms

Week three is very light, but it will be a huge time for Nintendo and Nintendo Switch owners. The consoles next exclusive of 2017, Arms, releases on June 15, and is set to turn the fighting genre on its head, with a unique approach to motion controlled boxing, Nintendo’s magical style, and sheer fun gameplay.

ever oasis

Nintendo isn’t done providing some goodies for the month of June, as the 3DS is getting some love as well in the form of Ever Oasis, a new action RPG. In fact, this week is full of RPG experiences with Darkest Dungeon and Final Fantasy XIV each getting new expansions later this month. Both are set to really change how the game is played, introducing new features and threats to overcome. This week is full of tons of hours of gameplay, so you may want to clear your calendar.

The month of June finishes just as strong as it began with even the Vita getting a bit of love thanks to Valkyria Revolution. Dead by Daylight, which has made waves on PC with its asynchronous multiplayer and frightening gameplay is heading to consoles. Elite Dangerous Legendary Edition hits consoles as well with a full release. If you’ve been in need of a blast from the past, look nor further than the end of the month when Crash Bandicoot makes his return to the PS4 in the N. Sane Trilogy.
