Free Games in June 2017
Xbox Games With Gold
As always, Gold members have a lot to look forward to this month. The first free game on offer is SpeedRunners, a four-player competitive platformer where a bunch of superheroes use their abilities to try to knock each other off. In addition to that, Gold members will also have access to a free DLC pack for Phantom Dust as celebration of the classic game’s release on Xbox One.
Just in case you’re looking for more lengthy game experiences to really sink your teeth into, Xbox has you covered with three options: Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed III, and Dragon Age: Origins. While Watch Dogs didn’t really resonate with a lot of players, we still had an enjoyable time with the game, and we absolutely loved how the dreary city of Chicago was essentially wide open and vulnerable to all of the player’s hacking tendencies.
Assassin’s Creed III is, well, it’s an Assassin’s Creed game. You’ll climb towers, perform amazing leaps of faith, and continue uncovering the story of assassin-to-be Desmond Miles, and his badass ancestors. Dragon Age: Origins is definitely starting to show its age, but it’s still an incredible fantasy RPG experience for anyone who’s into that genre but have yet to give it a shot.

PlayStation Plus
The PS Plus offerings for June 2017 are fairly beefy as well. Killing Floor 2 is a co-op first-person shooter where you and your friends team up to shoot some zombies. Up to six players can join up with each other and enjoy the carnage.
The real highlight here, though, is Life Is Strange. The game is broken up into five episodes and it’s excellent. While the episodes typically have rather slow starts, save the final one, they always build up to an exciting crescendo before leaving you on the edge of your seat, wanting more from an excruciating cliffhanger ending. Life Is Strange was one of our favorite games of 2015, and there’s no excuse for newcomers to not play this one anymore.
Outside of the two headlining games, we’ve also got Abyss Odyssey, a stylish 2D platformer that has players dive into the deep reaches of a dark abyss. You’ll find new weapons, level up, and slay fantastical enemies. Car and racing fans will have a good time with WRC 5, while puzzle and roguelike lovers will likely enjoy Spy Chameleon and Neon Chrome.
