Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Best Switch Kids Games of July 2018
Captain Toad was one of the many amazing games that released on the Wii U but were sort of overshadowed by bigger titles, and due to the low sales of the console, didn’t make a huge impact upon release. Thankfully, this adorable little adventurer has gotten a second chance on the Nintendo Switch and his journey is as enjoyable as ever.
In Captain Toad you can’t jump, making the entirety of this puzzle-based platformer so much different than other games set in the Mario universe. Each stage is set up as a charming little diorama that has one main goal for Toad to complete as well as side objectives that are there for those completionists. Rotating the scene and looking for hidden switches, coins, and pathways is as pleasurable as ever on the hybrid console and will make any child smile at the sheer joy of seeing Toad wobble around the beautifully crafted environments.
Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion
Best Switch Kids Games of July 2018
Sticking true to the popular animated series, Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion oozes with the charm and comedic timing that the show is known for providing us with. Being able to experience a new story set in the Adventure Time universe with the same voice actors from the show will make your Adventure Time-loving kids feel like they’re playing an episode of the series.
The Land of Ooo seems to be underwater for some reason, leaving Finn, Jake, BMO, and Marceline in charge of the investigation as to find out why this is happening. You get to sail the vast ocean, interrogate some scurvy pirates, and beat the heck out of some wack villains. It’s probably a really great RPG for your kid to try out as the first jump into the genre, especially if they are a fan of the television show.
Go VacationBest Switch Kids Games of July 2018
Go Vacation is one of the many mini-game collections to release on the Nintendo Wii back in the day, full of waggling controls like everything else, but with 50 mini-games and different areas to explore, Go Vacation actually wasn’t shovelware garbage and with it now being on the Switch, it’s a great multiplayer game for the family.
There are four different types of areas for you to explore in Go Vacation: marine, city, mountain, and snow. These four locales are hosts to many types of mini-games that – of course – correspond to the area. You’ll be able to go play on jet-skis, go scuba diving, and surfing on the marine resort and build snowmen, go skiing, and ice fishing in the snow resort. There’s tons of stuff to do and with the Switch coming included with two controllers out of the box, there’s plenty of family-friendly fun to be had.
