Okami HD
Okami’s stylish watercolor themed art style would make anyone, even a child, drop their jaw in amazement at how beautiful the world looks. Playing similarly to The Legend of Zelda series, albeit a bit simpler to manage, Okami would be the perfect “first Zelda” for a younger gamer to play through. The main star of the game, Amaterasu, is one of the cutest wolfs in video game history, and we’re pretty sure that kids love animals … right? Well, we did at least.
Just focus on the simple fact that this endearing gem of a game is only $20 on the Nintendo eShop right now and your kids will surely enjoy it. The combat uses paintbrush movements on the touch-screen to attack enemies and it’s also used to interact with objects in the environment, so swipe away. With its easy to learn controls, the game never gets too difficult and should be a proper choice for the young gamer in your life.
Overcooked 2
Ever had one of those nights when you’re cooking dinner for your kids and they were suddenly interested in helping you prepare the meal for the family? But then you were making something extremely complex so you couldn’t use their help for anything? Well, Overcooked 2 could be the perfect solution, allowing you to cook with your kids without destroying the meal in real life. There will still be arguing, yelling, and frustration when playing Overcooked 2 with your kids and other family members, but most importantly, there will plenty of laughs to be had.
Overcooked 2 has you and your team of “highly-trained” chefs in a variety of kitchens, preparing and serving food in the most extreme of situations. By communicating with one another, you must be on your toes and work together to chop, cook, boil, and bake to the best of your ability.
De Blob 2
De Blob originally released quite a few years ago, but now it’s out on the Switch with some added levels, bosses, and the addition of local multiplayer, which is a perfect feature for the Nintendo Switch thanks to its two included controllers for seamless fun. De Blob 2 has you saving the residents of Prisma City who are having their color drained from them, leaving you to bring the color and originality back to the world.
De Blob 2 is essentially a playable coloring book; just say this line to your kids and they will surely want to experience De Blob 2 and see what it’s all about. Grab your two Joy-Cons and work together to fill the color back into Prisma City; it’ll be an experience that will be super fun for the kids and one of the most unique bondings moments you can have.
