Eastward is a new 2D pixel art RPG from Pixpil and Chucklefish, and it takes place in a world where the Earth has been infected by a poisonous miasma and humanity has been forced to live underground. Our protagonists, John and Sam, eventually find themselves thrown into an adventure that takes them to the surface world, where they learn that things aren’t so bad after all. There are enemies to fight, and you’ll need to make sure you’re always stocked with supplies, so here’s how to increase your backpack size in Eastward.
What’s Your Backpack Used For?
Your backpack is a pretty important tool in Eastward, as it allows you to store food, which is used for healing your characters while you’re in a dungeon. At the very start of the game, you’ll only have two backpack slots, which means you can only carry two food items at a time, which isn’t a lot at all.
Increasing Backpack Size in Eastward
The good news is that it’s possible to increase your backpack size by purchasing upgrades. We were able to purchase those upgrades once we finished the first chapter of the game and headed up to the surface world for the first time. At the town with the Whalewood, you can head into the store and talk to the NPC to see what he has for sale.
He’ll sell you backpack upgrades which increase your backpack size by one slot each. All subsequent upgrades will cost 50 more Salt, so make sure you have enough with you before you start buying them.
The backpack upgrades will come in useful especially as you discover more cooking recipes, and this will allow you to carry around more potent food items so that you can manage dungeons and the tougher boss battles a little easier.
That’s all you need to know about how to increase your backpack size in Eastward. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
